UKPIK: the windproof softshell for dry, windy days

Some outings aren't about the rain, but the wind just won't let up: a morning approach to a climbing route, an exposed hiking ridge, or a trip back into town after a workout. UKPIK is made for these conditions, when a waterproof jacket would be too much and a simple thermal layer not enough.

Stretch fabric that moves with you

The 180 g/m² softshell fabric, made from recycled polyamide and elastane, blocks the wind while remaining breathable and stretchy. It moves with you as you climb and hike to your route without pulling at the shoulders, while its fluorine-free water-repellent treatment makes the first raindrops and powder snow bead up.

Details designed for real-world use

Two zipped hand-warmer pockets for cold hands during a break, snug cuffs that block drafts at the wrists, an underarm gusset that frees your arms when raised, 3 mm YKK zippers on the front and pockets, and an embroidered logo at the heart. The whole jacket weighs 243 g, light enough to leave in your pack at all times.

A softshell that blocks the wind without trapping perspiration

A softshell has a specific place in a layering system: more breathable than a membrane jacket, more protective than a fleece. The UKPIK does the job with a 180 g/m² stretch fabric that blocks the wind while letting water vapor pass through. It’s the layer for moving hard in dry, windy weather, one you can keep on from start to finish without stopping to take it off: 306 g in men’s size M, 243 g in women’s. The fabric stretches in both directions, making it comfortable for climbing or on a challenging section. It’s made of 71% ECONYL recycled polyamide, woven and dyed in Spain, and treated with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish: enough to handle a shower, not a storm.

Underarm gusset for unrestricted movement

On a fitted jacket, the underarm is always the sticking point: as soon as you reach for a hold, the jacket rides up and pulls at the shoulders. The UKPIK has an ease gusset in this area, a 175 g/m² stretch mesh panel made from recycled polyamide. Softer than the main fabric, it restores your range of motion without adding bulk elsewhere. The same mesh finishes the cuffs and inside of the collar: the snug cuffs keep cold air out without feeling tight. The fine, flexible 3 mm YKK zippers don’t create pressure points under a pack. It’s a simple construction, but designed for one precise movement: raising your arm without the jacket getting in your way.

UKPIK, the outer layer for dry, windy days

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air. It constantly adjusts its protection to the temperature, never wearing more than necessary.

UKPIK follows the same principle. It serves as an outer layer, the third layer, blocking the wind and first raindrops while letting moisture from exertion escape. Wear it on its own over a technical base layer when the air is mild, or over a lightweight fleece that serves as an insulating mid-layer when the temperature drops. In persistent rain, choose a waterproof membrane jacket instead.

Fit & support

UKPIK Regular Fit: a women's softshell that feels like a second skin or can be worn over other layers

UKPIK comes in a women's Regular Fit that follows the figure without feeling tight. Wear it directly over a technical T-shirt on mild days, or over a lightweight fleece when the temperature drops, without compressing the shoulders.

Stretch for freedom of movement

The fabric contains elastane, and the underarm gusset adds extra ease: with your arms raised while climbing or traversing, the jacket moves with you and doesn't ride up over your stomach.

A snug fit at the wrists

The snug cuffs stay in place under a glove or jacket sleeve and keep cold air from traveling up your forearms during a fast descent.
