HOODEECE: the hooded fleece designed for mountaineering and hiking

There’s that moment at the bivouac or during a snack break below a mountain pass when your body cools down faster than you expect. HOODEECE was made for moments like these: to keep you warm during breaks, stay breathable when you set off again, and be comfortable to wear without a second thought from the parking lot to the summit.

Brushed fleece inside, smooth outside

The 240 g/m² fleece is brushed next to the skin to trap warm air, while the outside is kept smooth so it slides under a waterproof jacket without snagging. This finish avoids the usual bulky feel of thick fleece when you urgently pull on a third layer in the rain.

Pockets you can reach with a backpack on

Two handwarmer pockets to warm your fingers at stops, a Velcro-fastened chest pocket for your phone or map, 3 mm YKK zippers on the center opening and pockets, and stretch cuffs that keep the sleeves in place under gloves.

PERFORMANCES

240 g/m² brushed fleece: warmth without bulk

All of HOODEECE’s warmth comes from its fleece construction. Knitted in Spain at a weight of 240 g/m², it is brushed on the inside: the raised fibers create a layer of still air next to the skin, and it is this air, much more than the material itself, that insulates against the cold. The outer face remains smooth and compact, limiting wind resistance and snagging under a jacket.

This weight is equivalent to a midweight thermal fleece: warm enough for a break at altitude or an approach hike in cold weather, yet light enough not to feel stifling as soon as the slope gets steeper. All made from Newlife Yarns polyester derived from recycled plastic bottles.

Stretch panels and YKK zippers: a fleece that moves with you

A midlayer fleece is judged as much by its freedom of movement as by its warmth. HOODEECE has stretch panels on the front and back, positioned where the garment works hardest when you reach up for a hold, adjust your pack, or pull yourself up onto a high step. The result: the fleece doesn’t pull at the armholes or ride up at the waist.

The closures follow the same practical logic: a center zip and 3 mm YKK pocket zips, fine enough to stay discreet under a third layer, yet reliable enough to operate with gloves on. The chest pocket, meanwhile, closes with Velcro, making it quicker to open with one hand.

HOODEECE, the second layer in the Lagoped system

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend in with the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air when temperatures drop. It constantly adjusts its insulation, never wearing more than it needs.

HOODEECE serves exactly this purpose in the layering system: as a midlayer, the second layer, its role is to retain the heat produced by the body while allowing moisture to escape. It is worn over a technical base layer next to the skin and under a waterproof, windproof outer layer when the weather turns bad. On its own, it’s more than enough for a dry approach at the start of the season.

Fit & support

HOODEECE Regular Fit: a fleece that slips under your jacket

HOODEECE has a regular fit with a women’s-specific cut, close enough to the body to retain warmth without hanging loose, yet roomy enough to accommodate a technical base layer underneath. Stretch panels at the front and back move with your arms while climbing or scrambling down, without the fleece riding up over your stomach.

Stretch cuffs keep the sleeves in place when putting on or taking off a glove, and the hood works just as well on its own during a break as under a helmet or beneath a waterproof jacket’s hood. The smooth outer face of the fleece makes layering easy, even when wet.

Coupe Regular
