RIOUPOU: the stretch shorts for hot days in the mountains

There are those late-spring outings when your pack is light, the climb is steep, and the temperature rises faster than expected. That’s exactly where the RIOUPOU shines: a soft, four-way stretch knit that moves with you instead of holding you back when you lengthen your stride on a trail or lift your leg over a rocky step.

Lightweight, protective ECONYL knit

The fabric, made from recycled ECONYL polyamide and Lycra elastane, weighs 175 g/m² and provides UPF 50+ protection through the knit construction itself, with no added chemical treatment. On an exposed ridge or a long traverse in full sun, it protects your thigh skin without having to reapply sunscreen every two hours.

Pockets designed to keep everything secure on the move

Two hand pockets and a front patch pocket, all zipped, keep your phone and keys secure even on a slope or during scrambling. The belt-loop waistband fits a slim belt, useful when wearing the shorts with a climbing harness or a light pack.

PERFORMANCES

UPF50+ protection built into the knit, not achieved with a chemical treatment

Most UV-protective clothing gets its rating from a treatment applied to the fabric, which fades with each wash. With RIOUPOU, the UPF50+ protection comes from the knit itself: the stitch density and fine polyamide yarn block radiation without any chemical additives, so effectiveness doesn’t diminish over time. At 175 g/m², this knit is still lightweight and breathable, which matters on a summer hiking day or a route under the blazing sun. The entire shorts weigh 170 g: you can forget they’re in your pack and pull them out when the temperature rises, without having to choose between sun protection and lightness.

4-way stretch and zippered pockets: move freely without losing anything

The blend of 79% recycled polyamide and 21% elastane creates a fabric that stretches in all four directions. In practice, a big step on a boulder field or climbing out of a slab never pulls at the thigh or crotch, and the fabric springs back into place without sagging at the knees by the end of the day.

Three pockets, three zippers

Both hand pockets and the front patch pocket all have zippers. It’s the kind of detail you appreciate just once: when you bend down to get through a tricky section and your phone stays put. The belt loops complete the design, keeping the shorts in place under a harness.

RIOUPOU, the first layer for summer outings

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to protect itself from the cold and smooths them down as soon as the temperature rises. It adapts constantly, never wearing more than necessary.

Fit & support

Women's Regular Fit: shorts that move without pinching

RIOUPOU comes in a women's Regular Fit cut, neither tight nor loose. The 4-way stretch knit does the rest: it moves with your hips and knees when climbing uphill or taking a climbing step, then returns to shape without stretching out over the course of the day.

Adjustable support at the waist

The belt loops let you add a slim belt and adjust the fit depending on what you're wearing underneath or carrying in your pockets. The shorts stay in place under a harness or a backpack hip belt, without riding up with every step.

In the mountains and in the city

With its simple silhouette and matte knit, they're just as easy to wear after an outing, on a patio, or around town as they are on a hike.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire, ni ajustée ni ample, avec assez d'aisance à la taille et aux cuisses pour superposer une couche isolante en dessous. Le bas de jambe reste suffisamment large pour passer par-dessus une chaussure de ski ou d'alpinisme sans tirer sur le tissu.
