JULEECE: the half-zip microfleece designed for mountaineering

On a mountaineering route, the mid layer is the one you wear longest: at the start in the dark, during the approach hike, then under your jacket when the wind picks up. JULEECE was designed to be an all-purpose layer, warm enough for breaks and breathable enough for the ascent.

Fleece brushed inside, smooth outside

The 240 g/m2 fleece, brushed on the inside, traps warm air close to the body. The outer face stays smooth, allowing a technical jacket to slide over it without catching when putting on or taking off a layer, even with gloves on.

A half-zip opening to regulate your temperature as you hike

The half-length front zip works like a thermostat: open it at the first steep, level stretch to release heat, then zip it back up as soon as you move into the shade. The snug cuffs block cold air from creeping up the sleeves, and the heart embroidery replaces a printed label that always ends up peeling off.

PERFORMANCES

240 g/m² fleece: warmth without added weight

JULEECE gets its warmth from its 240 g/m² knitted fleece, a midweight fabric that strikes a good balance between microfleece that is too thin for a break and thick fleece that feels stifling as soon as the pace picks up. The brushed inner surface creates a layer of air trapped against the body: it’s this air, more than the fabric itself, that provides insulation.

This knit remains breathable, which is essential for a garment worn while climbing. Moisture produced during exertion passes through the knit instead of condensing against the base layer. As a result, you can keep the fleece on longer before having to stop to unzip or take it off.

Elastane and finishes: the 1/2 zip, cuffs, embroidery

The 8% elastane in the knit is no mere comfort detail: it lets the garment move with your arms without pulling across your back, then return to shape instead of deforming over the course of your outings.

The rest comes down to the finishes. The 1/2-zip front opening lets you adjust your temperature quickly, with one hand and without taking off your pack. The snug cuffs keep the sleeves from riding up under a jacket or letting in cold air. And instead of a printed mark, the logo is embroidered at the heart, a solution that won't crack or fade in the wash after several seasons of use.

JULEECE, the second layer in the Lagoped system

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: it turns white in winter to blend into the snow and fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air. It constantly adapts to the temperature, never wearing more than it needs.

JULEECE follows the same principle: it's an intermediate layer, the second layer, designed to insulate. It's worn over a technical base layer close to the body, which wicks away perspiration, and under a waterproof, windproof outer layer when the weather turns bad. In dry weather, it works on its own as an outer layer on an approach hike, then goes back in your pack as soon as the effort picks up.

Fit & support

JULEECE Regular Fit: a midlayer that slips under a jacket

JULEECE has a Regular Fit, a straight cut for men that follows the body without feeling tight. It leaves room for a technical base layer underneath and slips under a waterproof jacket without adding bulk at the shoulders or armholes, which matters when alternating between the approach hike and the climb.

The elastane in the knit moves with wide arm movements, whether climbing or using an ice axe, and the fleece returns to shape after exertion. The snug cuffs stay in place under jacket sleeves and don’t ride up the forearms. The half-length zip lets you open the collar wide for ventilation without taking the garment off.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire à travers le buste, avec assez d'aisance pour superposer une couche technique en dessous sans compression. Les manches gardent une bonne liberté de mouvement pour les activités outdoor du quotidien, de la randonnée aux sorties en montagne.

Make your equipment last

Laver en machine à 30°C avec une lessive douce, éco de préférence, et sans excès.

Pas de javel : ni les fibres ni les couleurs n'y survivent, mieux vaut s'abstenir.

Sécher au sèche-linge à basse température, sans excès de chaleur pour ménager les fibres.

Ne pas nettoyer à sec : les solvants du pressing ne lui réussissent pas.

Fermer zips et boutons avant lavage, pour protéger la pièce et le reste de la machine.

Laver avec des couleurs similaires, pour éviter les mauvaises surprises au déballage.

Ne pas repasser : cette matière n'apprécie pas du tout la chaleur du fer.
