Hiking in summer means enjoying nature at its best... but also facing very variable conditions: heat, sudden rain, wind at altitude, or cool nights. To avoid unpleasant surprises, being well equipped is essential, even for a simple walk in the mid-mountains.
And if, on top of that, these hiking clothes are responsibly made, even better. Because traveling light also means traveling with a reduced impact.
No need to pile on layers. With these 5 well-chosen pieces, you’re ready to go, whether for a day or a multi-day trek.
A good hiking t-shirt is the essential first layer to stay dry and comfortable, even when climbing in 30°C heat. The TEETREK, made from recycled polyester, is both breathable, lightweight, and quick-drying. Its technical mesh efficiently wicks away sweat.
Designed for active use, the TEETREK comes in men's and women's versions, with a fitted and comfortable cut. It is entirely made in the European Union, free from harmful substances and PFAS, in line with Lagoped's commitments.
An essential piece, just as useful for a day hike as for a multi-day trek.
When it comes to choosing a good men's hiking pants or women's, it's best to opt for a versatile, durable piece that's comfortable to wear all day. The PTARMIGAN2 ticks all the boxes: recycled stretch fabric, reinforcements on the knees and seat, practical pockets, and an ergonomic cut that follows your movements.
This hiking pants are perfect for summer: they are breathable, water-repellent in case of light showers, and effectively protect against branch scratches or wind at altitude. They are woven, dyed, and assembled in the European Union.
A durable hiking garment, designed to last over time and adapt to all adventures, from family walks to the GR trails.
In summer as well as mid-season, a technical fleece remains a backpack essential. It insulates against the cold while staying lightweight, breathable, and compact. At Lagoped, the PHANTOM (unisex model, with or without hood) and GELINOTTE (women’s model, with or without hood) each offer an excellent weight-to-warmth ratio.
Made from recycled materials, without any harmful chemical treatments, these technical fleeces are produced in Europe, following the principles of local and responsible manufacturing. Their clean design allows them to be worn both for hiking and daily use.
An essential mid-layer to face a cool wind on the ridge or a picnic break in the shade of a summit.
Even in summer, it is essential to slip a waterproof hiking jacket into your bag. Mountain weather can change in minutes, and a shower or storm can arrive quickly. The TETRAS, a technical 3-layer jacket, guarantees 20,000 mm waterproofing, optimal breathability, and technical details suited for hiking: adjustable hood, large zippered pockets, underarm ventilation…
Made from recycled materials, without PFAS, the TETRAS is woven and dyed in France, Italy, Austria, and assembled in Poland. Available in men’s version and women’s, it’s a technical piece designed to last, be repaired, and passed on.
A safe choice for those who want to equip themselves sustainably with high-performance hiking clothing.
Good hiking gear doesn’t stop at clothing. Some well-chosen accessories can really make a difference out on the trail.
The WINSNOOD neck gaiter, light and multifunctional, protects against sun, wind, or cold depending on conditions. Made in Europe from recycled microfibers, it easily fits in a pocket or around the wrist.
The LAGOBI water bottle, developed with Gobi, is lightweight (130 g), durable, BPA-free, and made in France. Its 1 L size is perfect for hydration on the trail.
The GEBO beanie, made of fine recycled knit, is compact and ideal for high altitudes or camping.
Small items that take up little space but make hiking much more enjoyable and safer.
Equipping yourself for summer hiking doesn’t mean compromising between performance, comfort, and environmental impact. On the contrary, choosing the right women’s hiking clothes or men’s not only helps you enjoy the trails more but also commits you to a more sustainable outdoor practice.
At Lagoped, every piece is designed to support hikers with high standards: recycled materials, manufacturing in the European Union, no PFAS, and long-lasting durability. From technical t-shirts to three-layer waterproof jackets, including hiking pants and lightweight accessories, the entire wardrobe is made to be both high-performing, versatile, and environmentally friendly.
In the mountains, temperature variations can be very marked during the same day: from -5°C early in the morning to over 25°C in full sun, depending on altitude.
At dawn, especially above 2500 meters, the temperature can drop below zero.
In the middle of the day, it is common to reach 20 to 25°C even at altitude, if the sun is out.
In the evening or if the wind picks up, the chill sets in quickly.
To cope with these variations, it is recommended to layer several pieces: a technical t-shirt, a warm layer like a fleece, and a windproof or waterproof jacket. This allows you to easily adjust your level of protection throughout the day.
It is perfectly possible to hike with regular sportswear, provided it is breathable, comfortable, and suited to the effort. However, not all sportswear is designed to handle the varied and sometimes unpredictable conditions of the mountains.
A good hiking garment should be:
Breathable, to wick away sweat,
Quick-drying, to avoid the “cold” effect after exertion,
Durable, especially against backpack friction or natural elements,
Compact, to easily slip into a bag,
Versatile, to adapt to different types of activities.
🧵 The Lagoped wardrobe is designed for multi-activity use. A waterproof jacket can protect you both in the mountains and on a bike; technical pants will be as comfortable at the bivouac as during a climb. A selection of durable, versatile clothing designed to last long and adapt to different uses.
Choosing a jacket depends on the weather conditions, terrain, and intensity of the effort. In summer, the ideal is to choose a piece that is lightweight, breathable, and protective, as the weather can change quickly in the mountains.
Here are three technical options suited to different contexts:
The 3-layer waterproof jacket, like the TETRAS, offers reliable protection against rain and wind. Compact and lightweight (under 500 g), it easily fits in a backpack and quickly becomes essential in case of a sudden storm at 2500 m altitude.
The windbreaker jacket, like the NAGALAKA, is ideal for hikes in dry but exposed weather. Ultra-light, it effectively blocks wind at altitude or on ridges while ensuring good breathability.
The softshell, like the UKPIK, is perfect for early morning departures or cooler days. Water-repellent, flexible, and breathable, it provides thermal comfort without turning into a down jacket.
🔁 All Lagoped jackets are designed to last, be repairable, and made with recycled materials in Europe.
The backpack weight depends on the duration of the hike:
For a day trip, it is recommended not to exceed 10% of body weight, about 5 to 7 kg for an adult. This includes water, a picnic, a warm layer, a first aid kit, and some useful accessories.
🏕️ For a multi-day hike, the weight can be up to 15% of body weight, or 8 to 12 kg. Ideally, choose versatile, compact, and lightweight clothing and gear.
🎯 At Lagoped, clothes are designed to be functional, multi-purpose, and easy to carry, without compromising on technical performance.
