In practice, this makes no difference to the feel or shape of the jersey, which remains soft and dense. The rest of the composition helps ensure the knit stays stable and the collar holds its shape over time. A T-shirt you keep for a long time remains the best eco-friendly choice for a wardrobe.

Heavyweight jersey knitted in France: the fabric that holds its shape

The difference between a T-shirt that lasts two seasons and one that lasts five years comes down to the fabric. DOVE HAPPY is made from heavyweight jersey, spun in Spain and knitted in Moreuil, France. Denser than standard jersey, it hangs straight instead of clinging, is less see-through in a light color like this cream, and withstands machine washing without the shoulders sagging. The collar is made from heavyweight rib knit from the same production chain: same spinning mill, same knitting process, so it behaves the same in the wash and won’t gape after a few months. It’s an invisible detail on the rack, but very noticeable in use.

The heavyweight jersey has a lot to do with this look: it has enough weight to drape cleanly instead of clinging to the body, and the ribbed collar keeps its original shape wash after wash.
