GEBO STRIPE: the warm recycled wool beanie for mountaineering

At the start of a climb, before sunrise, your head is often the first place to feel the cold. GEBO STRIPE is made for just that moment: a warm, two-ply knitted beanie that slips into a jacket pocket and comes out as soon as the wind picks up on the ridge or when you stop for a break at the col.

Two-ply knit designed for warmth

The two-ply knit makes the fabric denser and traps more air, which explains how it keeps you warm despite weighing just 50 grams. Recycled wool, which makes up 70% of the composition, retains its insulating properties even when moisture builds up under your helmet or after a sustained climb.

A folded cuff and embroidered logo, nothing unnecessary

The knitted cuff doubles the thickness over your forehead and ears, where the cold bites first, and lets you adjust the coverage to suit the weather. The logo is embroidered, not heat-applied: no stiff patch to get in the way under a hood or mountaineering helmet.

PERFORMANCES

Yarn made from 70% recycled wool and 25% recycled polyamide, spun in the Tarn region.

A 2-ply knit, denser and warmer

The GEBO STRIPE is knitted with 2 strands rather than one: the knit is denser, traps more air, and blocks the wind better, making it the choice for truly cold days. The folded cuff doubles the thickness over the ears. Its stripes are not dyed: the recycled wool fibers are mechanically sorted by color before spinning, and each stripe retains the color of its original fibers. The yarn is spun in Tarn using a process that preserves fiber length during shredding, and combines 70% recycled wool, 25% polyamide, and 5% other fibers. The beanie is knitted in Italy, weighs 50 g, and its logo is embroidered on the cuff.

No dyeing: fibers sorted by color before spinning

The Navy color of this beanie doesn't come from a dye bath. Recycled wool fibers are sorted by color beforehand, then spun in Tarn in their final shade. The dyeing stage, one of the most water-, energy- and chemical-intensive steps in the entire textile supply chain, is eliminated entirely. This is the kind of decision you can't see in the finished product but that has a major impact on its footprint. It also makes a practical difference in use: without added pigment, the color doesn't fade with washing or bleed onto a light-colored base layer worn underneath.

Fit & support

A unisex beanie with a fold-over cuff that adjusts to fit

GEBO STRIPE is a unisex, one-size-fits-all style: the two-ply knit is flexible enough to fit different head sizes without squeezing the temples. The cuff is the key to adjusting the fit. Folded up high, it leaves the ears exposed and lets you breathe during the climb; unfolded, it covers your ears and the back of your neck when the temperature drops during a break or at the summit.

The knit is fine enough to fit under a technical jacket hood without adding bulk, and the flat embroidered logo avoids the pressure point you sometimes get with an added-on patch.

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
