The flexible brim folds and slips into a jacket pocket or a backpack flap without holding a pronounced crease. SOWA offers a UPF 50+ rating, the highest level on the scale for textile protection against ultraviolet rays. In plain terms, the fabric blocks almost all UV radiation that would reach the scalp and, thanks to the brim, much of what hits the face. This matters at altitude, where radiation intensity increases with elevation and snow reflects a large proportion of the light it receives.

This protection comes from the fabric itself, a 145 g/m² recycled polyamide whose weave density acts as a barrier, rather than from a surface treatment that could wash out. So it remains effective outing after outing, whether on a mountaineering climb or a day of sailing.

40 grams and a soft brim: the cap you forget you packed

Weighing just 40 grams, SOWA fits in a trouser pocket and goes unnoticed once it's on your head. Its lightness comes from the choice of a fabric weighing just 145 g/m², combined with an unlined 5-panel construction, with only discreet interfacing to shape the front.

The soft brim adds to the same effect: it rolls up, folds, slips into a backpack flap and springs back into shape without creasing. That's what makes the difference between a cap you pack out of principle and one you actually take along, whether gravel riding or traveling. The fabric's stretch, thanks to 14% elastane, completes the design, letting the crown follow the shape of your head without feeling tight.

SOWA Active Fit Cut: a unisex cap that adjusts with one hand

SOWA features an Active Fit cut: a close-fitting crown with no excess volume on top of the head that stays in place when you run, climb, or sail in the wind. It’s unisex and works just as well with short hair as with hair tied back through the rear opening.

The rear adjustment can be operated with one hand, even on the move: tighten it for a ski descent, or loosen it to fit a thin beanie underneath in cold weather. The stretchy material accommodates the adjustment rather than resisting it, and the soft brim folds without creasing, so you can stow the cap at the bottom of a bag between outings.
