LAGOPEYE CAT3POLA: polarized sunglasses designed for the mountains and everyday wear

On a glacier, a cliff or at a race starting point parking lot, sunglasses are often the first piece of gear we forget and the first one we regret leaving behind. LAGOPEYE CAT3POLA was designed to stay on your face all day, from the trail to the refuge terrace.

Category 3 polarized lenses for mountain light

The lens is Category 3 with a polarized coating, the right level for strong light at altitude and glare from snow, pale rock or water. The removable sun shield clips on when the light becomes too oblique, while crossing a snowfield or navigating, then comes off for more urban use.

Mass-dyed recycled plastic frame

The frame is made from recycled industrial plastic, mass-dyed so the color won’t chip from rubbing against a bag or pocket. Designed without screws, it can be taken apart and recycled more easily at the end of its life, and the Lagoped logo is printed on the temples. All weighing just 28 grams on your face.

PERFORMANCES

Category 3 polarized lenses

Category 3 polarized lenses, to reduce glare from water and snow

The category of a sunglass lens indicates how much light it filters, on a scale from 0 to 4. The LAGOPEYE CAT3POLA comes with category 3 lenses, the standard tint for mountain activities and hiking, with an added polarizing filter. This filter blocks horizontally reflected light, the kind that causes glare on a lake, river, or snowfield in the middle of the day: reflections disappear, and you can once again see what lies beneath the water’s surface or make out the contours of the snow. It’s the perfect choice for outings by the water, kayaking, fishing, or coastal hikes. For glaciers and snow-covered high mountains, where the light is more intense, the LAGOPEYE CAT4 is better suited.

Frame made from recycled plastic, colored throughout, screw-free assembly

A recycled plastic frame, screw-free, dyed throughout

The LAGOPEYE frames are made from recycled plastic sourced from industrial plastic offcuts, and the sunglasses are made in France. Three design choices make them durable. First, they are dyed throughout: the color is not a coating applied to the surface, so it won't flake off from rubbing against the inside of a bag. Next, they are assembled without any screws, eliminating the weak point of hinges that come loose and making them easier to recycle at the end of their life. Finally, a removable sun shield protects the sides when light comes from all directions. The whole thing weighs just 28 g on your nose, light enough to forget about for an entire day.

Fit & support

A 28-gram unisex frame you’ll barely notice

LAGOPEYE CAT3POLA is a unisex frame worn by both men and women, with straight temples featuring the Lagoped logo. At 28 grams, it sits lightly on your nose during a long approach or a day on the water, without putting noticeable pressure behind your ears.

A sun shield that comes off in two seconds

The removable sun shield clips on to block side light on snow or water, then comes off when you head back down into the valley or walk through town. This lets you switch from a high-mountain setup to a more understated frame without changing glasses or using any tools, since the design is completely screw-free.
