COLCHUUCK: the valley twill pants with a denim look

There are approach days, when you load your pack into the trunk and cross town before heading to a cliff or a trail. COLCHUUCK was designed for those days, when pavement and rock go hand in hand and you don’t feel like changing clothes in between.

Twill that lasts

Its 255 g/m² twill weave gives it a matte denim look and enough structure to keep the pants from bagging at the knees after three outings. The fabric blends recycled polyester and recycled cotton, a duo that stands up to rubbing against rock and repeated washing without losing its shape.

Pockets that are actually useful

Two front slash pockets and two rear patch pockets: the classic setup that works. The embroidered logo on the right front pocket and the embroidery on the right back pocket stay understated, with no plastic label or printed branding that flakes off after one winter.

PERFORMANCES

255 g/m² twill: the structure of denim without the stiffness

It all starts with the fabric. The 255 g/m² twill used in COLCHUUCK has the diagonal weave of denim, which gives it its matte appearance and abrasion resistance, while remaining more supple than traditional denim fabric. In practical terms, the trousers hold their shape where a lighter fabric would show wear at the knees and pocket bottoms.

The blend has a lot to do with it: 50% recycled polyester provides dimensional stability and resistance to friction, while 49% recycled cotton ensures the feel and natural breathability you expect from trousers worn all day. In total, 94% recycled materials, including both pre-consumer cotton fibers from production offcuts and post-consumer fibers from used clothing.

Sorting fibers by color: Navy achieved without a dye bath

This COLCHUUCK’s navy blue has never seen a dye bath. The recycled fibers are sorted by color before spinning, then spun directly in the desired shade in Banyeres de Mariola. This is one of the most effective ways to reduce a textile’s footprint: dyeing remains one of the most water-, energy- and chemical-intensive steps in the entire textile supply chain, and here it is eliminated entirely.

The other benefit becomes apparent with wear. A color created by the fiber itself, rather than applied to the surface, fades less quickly with washing. The pants retain their deep, matte shade, unlike conventionally dyed denim, which gradually fades.

COLCHUUCK, the base layer for days in the valley

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend in with the snow, it fluffs up its feathers when the temperature drops and smooths them down again as soon as it gets warmer. It constantly adapts, never wearing more than it needs.

COLCHUUCK follows this logic for the lower body: it serves as a base layer, staying in contact with the skin and accompanying you throughout the day. Wear it alone in the valley, near a cliff or on a trail in dry weather; add technical tights underneath when it’s cold, and waterproof overpants on top when the rain sets in.

Fit & support

Regular Fit straight cut: men's trousers that don't restrict your stride

COLCHUUCK comes in a Regular Fit straight cut, a men's style that follows the leg without clinging, from hip to ankle. Neither tight nor loose, it has the silhouette of classic jeans, with the freedom of movement needed to step over a block, climb a station staircase, or sit at the foot of a route without the fabric pulling at your thigh.

The 255 g/m² twill's structure plays a direct role here: the trousers hold their shape throughout the day instead of stretching out at the knees. They're worn on their own for most of the year and can accommodate a thin technical base layer underneath when temperatures drop, without feeling tight at the waist or thighs.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire, ni ajustée ni ample, avec assez d'aisance à la taille et aux cuisses pour superposer une couche isolante en dessous. Le bas de jambe reste suffisamment large pour passer par-dessus une chaussure de ski ou d'alpinisme sans tirer sur le tissu.
