UKPIK: the windproof softshell jacket for exertion in dry weather

Some days, rain isn’t the problem, but a headwind on a ridge or on the approach to a route can leave you chilled within minutes. UKPIK was designed for these conditions: it blocks the wind, lets perspiration escape, and disappears from your mind as soon as you pick up the pace.

Stretch fabric that moves with you

Its 180 g/m² softshell fabric, made from recycled polyamide and elastane, stretches in every direction. Whether climbing or mountaineering, you can raise your shoulder and arm without the jacket pulling across your back, and the fluorine-free water-repellent treatment handles a drizzle or spray of snow without soaking up water.

Simple details, proven in use

Two zipped hand-warmer pockets keep your hands warm during breaks, an underarm gusset frees up the armholes, and snug cuffs block drafts at the wrists. YKK 3 mm center and pocket zippers, an embroidered logo at the chest: just 306 g on the scales, plus UPF 50+ protection for long days at altitude.

PERFORMANCES

Recycled stretch polyamide fabric, PFAS-free water-repellent finish

A softshell that blocks the wind without trapping perspiration

A softshell has a specific place in a layering system: more breathable than a membrane jacket, more protective than a fleece. The UKPIK does the job with a 180 g/m² stretch fabric that blocks the wind while letting water vapor pass through. It’s the layer for moving hard in dry, windy weather, one you can keep on from start to finish without stopping to take it off: 306 g in men’s size M, 243 g in women’s. The fabric stretches in both directions, making it comfortable for climbing or on a challenging section. It’s made of 71% ECONYL recycled polyamide, woven and dyed in Spain, and treated with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish: enough to handle a shower, not a storm.

Stretch panels in recycled polyamide

Underarm gusset for unrestricted movement

On a fitted jacket, the underarm is always the sticking point: as soon as you reach for a hold, the jacket rides up and pulls at the shoulders. The UKPIK has an ease gusset in this area, a 175 g/m² stretch mesh panel made from recycled polyamide. Softer than the main fabric, it restores your range of motion without adding bulk elsewhere. The same mesh finishes the cuffs and inside of the collar: the snug cuffs keep cold air out without feeling tight. The fine, flexible 3 mm YKK zippers don’t create pressure points under a pack. It’s a simple construction, but designed for one precise movement: raising your arm without the jacket getting in your way.

UKPIK, the outer layer for dry, windy days

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap air and protect itself from the cold. It constantly adjusts its protection to the temperature, never wearing more than it needs.

UKPIK follows the same principle. It serves as an outer layer, the third layer, shielding you from the wind and water spray while still allowing you to breathe. Unlike a waterproof membrane jacket, it prioritizes breathability and freedom of movement: it’s the outer layer for dry, windy, or simply cool days. It’s worn over a second insulating layer, such as a fleece or lightweight down jacket, which in turn sits over a technical base layer next to the skin.

Fit & support

UKPIK regular fit: close-fitting enough for climbing, roomy enough for layering

UKPIK has a regular fit in the men's version: not tight or baggy, it gives you room across the chest without excess fabric bunching under a harness or backpack straps.

Stretch for freedom of movement

The elastane in both the main fabric and the underarm panels moves with your shoulders. Raise your arms while climbing or plant your hiking poles without the jacket hem riding up over your lower back.

Wear it on its own or over a warm layer

Wear it directly over a technical T-shirt in mild weather, or over a lightweight fleece when temperatures drop. The snug cuffs keep warmth in and make it easy to wear gloves.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire à travers le buste, avec assez d'aisance pour superposer une couche technique en dessous sans compression. Les manches gardent une bonne liberté de mouvement pour les activités outdoor du quotidien, de la randonnée aux sorties en montagne.
