HOODEECE: the hooded fleece that keeps you warm from the hut to the summit

On a mountaineering climb or a long hike, your midlayer is the one you wear the longest: warm enough for a break at the pass, breathable enough to keep you from overheating as soon as the trail starts climbing. HOODEECE was designed for exactly this role.

Brushed fleece inside, smooth outside

The 240 g/m² fleece is brushed against the skin to trap warm air, and left smooth on the outside to slide easily under a technical jacket. Stretch panels at the front and back let your upper body move freely when you reach with your arms, whether climbing or traversing an exposed ridge.

Pockets that stay accessible on the move

Two hand-warmer pockets to warm your fingers when you stop, a hook-and-loop chest pocket that remains reachable with your harness fastened, and 3 mm YKK zippers on both the front zip and pockets. Stretch-finished cuffs keep the sleeves snug under your gloves. Weighs 340 g and has a fluorine-free water-repellent finish.

PERFORMANCES

Brushed 240 g/m² fleece: warmth in 340 grams

A fleece’s warmth depends on its structure, not its apparent thickness. HOODEECE weighs in at 240 g/m², with a brushed interior that creates a fluffy surface where warm air settles and stays trapped against the body. On the outside, the smooth face resists snagging under an outer layer and lets the fleece slide on easily, a detail that matters when changing in the wind on a ledge.

The whole piece weighs 340 g and is made from Newlife Yarns recycled polyester sourced from plastic bottles, with elastane added so the fabric moves with you rather than restricting you. A fluorine-free water-repellent treatment rounds it out, handling the first snowflakes before you put on your jacket.

3 mm YKK zippers and a Velcro chest pocket: details designed with a harness in mind

The center zipper and two hand-warmer pockets have 3 mm YKK zippers, a fine gauge that doesn’t add bulk under a jacket and can still be operated easily with thin gloves. The chest pocket closes with Velcro: open it with one hand, without searching for the zipper pull, and keep access clear even when a harness or pack belt crosses your midsection.

The two lower pockets mainly serve to warm your hands when you stop, at a belay, or during a snack break. Stretch cuffs complete the set: they keep the sleeves in place when you pull your gloves back on, without elastic digging into your forearm after a few hours.

HOODEECE, the second layer in the Lagoped three-layer system

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap air and protect itself from the cold. It constantly adjusts its insulation to the temperature, never wearing more than necessary.

HOODEECE plays exactly this role in the layering system: it is the mid layer, the second layer, designed to retain the heat produced by the body while allowing moisture to escape. It is worn over a technical base layer close to the body, and under a waterproof, windproof outer layer in bad weather. In clear weather, it is often enough on its own, both on the ascent and during breaks.

Fit & support

Regular-Fit HOODEECE: room to move, not to billow

HOODEECE has a straight fit, neither snug nor loose. This men's version leaves room for a long-sleeve base layer without feeling tight across the shoulders, and still fits under a waterproof jacket without adding bulk.

Stretch panels that move with you

Stretch panels at the front and back move with your shoulders as you pull yourself up a rock or carry a heavy pack, without the hem riding up.

Cuffs and hood that stay in place

Stretch cuffs keep the sleeves under your gloves and block drafts, while the hood fits over your head or over a thin beanie during windy breaks.
