JULEECE: the 1/2-zip microfleece designed for mountaineering

On a mountaineering trip, the midlayer is the one you keep on from the nighttime start until you return to the car. JULEECE was made for that precise role: to keep you warm without weighing you down, while letting moisture vapor escape when the pace picks up on a steep climb.

Brushed knit inside, smooth outside

The 240 g/m² fleece is brushed next to the skin to trap warm air, while its smooth outer surface slides under a technical jacket without snagging or adding bulk at the shoulders. The recycled polyester dries quickly, making it a real comfort when you’re doing two days of climbing back to back without being able to dry anything.

A half-zip to adjust your temperature on the move

The front 1/2 zip lets you vent your torso during a steep climb, then zip up to the collar as soon as the wind picks up, without taking off your pack or stopping. The snug cuffs block cold air from creeping up the sleeves, and the heart embroidery discreetly signs off the piece.

PERFORMANCES

Brushed 240 g/m² fleece: warmth without the bulk

All of JULEECE’s thermal performance comes from its 240 g/m² fleece, brushed on the inside. Brushing creates a layer of fibers that traps a thin layer of air right next to the skin, and it’s this still air that provides warmth, not the thickness of the fabric. The result: real warmth with little bulk, which matters when the fleece also needs to fit in your bag for part of the day.

The outside stays smooth: it reduces snagging under an outer layer and doesn’t retain moisture like a long-pile fleece. Recycled polyester absorbs almost no water, wicks sweat outward, and dries quickly. These two qualities help prevent a chill when you stop after a sustained climb.

8% elastane and a half-zip: freedom of movement and adjustment on the go

The 8% elastane in the fleece makes a real difference to how it feels during activity: the knit moves with your shoulders and arms as you stretch up for a rock hold or climb a slope in crampons, then regains its shape without becoming stretched out over repeated outings. This makes for a close-fitting cut without ever feeling tight across your back.

The half-zip at the front adds another way to stay comfortable. Instead of taking off a layer as soon as the temperature rises, unzip a few centimeters to let heat escape through the collar, then zip up again when you reach a windswept ridge. With snug cuffs that close off the sleeves, you can adjust your insulation continuously, pack on your back, without stopping.

JULEECE, the second layer of the Lagoped three-layer system

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap air and protect itself from the cold. It constantly adjusts its insulation to the temperature, never wearing more than necessary.

JULEECE plays exactly this role in the Lagoped system: it is the mid-layer, the second layer, which generates warmth by trapping warm air in its brushed fleece. It is worn over a technical base layer that fits close to the body and wicks away sweat, and under a waterproof, windproof outer layer on exposed days. In dry, cold weather, it is often enough on its own for the climb.

Fit & support

Regular Fit JULEECE: a second layer that fits under other layers without getting in the way

JULEECE comes in a Regular Fit, a women’s fit that’s neither clingy nor loose. It follows the silhouette while leaving enough room to move your arms freely, whether climbing a step or planting your poles.

It can be worn directly over a technical base layer and under a waterproof jacket without bunching at the armholes, thanks to its smooth outer face and flexible stretch fleece. The snug cuffs stay in place under jacket sleeves and don’t ride up when putting on or taking off a layer. The half-zip lets you open the collar wide for ventilation or zip it up to your chin when the temperature drops during a break.
