Did you know? The ptarmigan—our spirit animal—changes its plumage with the seasons. It turns white in winter to escape predators and increases the fluffiness of its feathers to ward off cold.

The CARDUELIS cycling jersey is inspired by this: its composition and construction make it a light and breathable product, ideal for hot weather.

To enjoy your favorite activity whatever the weather, here's the basics: layers.

The first layer, called the inner layer, must be breathable, to guide perspiration to the outside of the garment. This is the category to which CARDUELIS belongs.

The middle layer is insulating, it helps keep the heat in.

The outer layer protects against bad weather: waterproof, breathable, windproof.

By building your outfit around this system, you gain comfort and versatility. During exercise, you can remove the mid-layer and then put it back on when you stop.

In short, multi-layering is the basis.

Manufacture

We often like to say that we make our mountain clothing with you. Since Lagoped's creation, we've been constantly working with professionals and enthusiasts to improve each piece. To equip you in the best possible way, always with sustainability in mind.

Here's how our jersey is made:

The designs are printed using the sublimation technique. A nice term for a well-known physical phenomenon: sublimation is the transition from a solid state to a gaseous state without passing through the liquid state. To sublimate the neck warmers, we first print a sheet of sublimation paper and then place this paper on the fabric before passing everything between 2 large rollers (the calender) which heats and presses the 2 supports. With the heat and pressure, the ink passes directly into the fabric without smudging because it has not passed through the liquid state (hehe). Only fabrics that contain a large majority of polyester can be sublimated. An alternative to pigment coloring in water baths.

For the print media: The polyester yarn is recycled in Italy and then the knitting is done in France. The elastane comes from Asia: it is a component that gives the knit its stretch and constitutes the core of the final yarn. This step is called "covering" and consists of putting the elastane inside the recycled polyester yarn.

Finally, the product is sublimated and then assembled in Lithuania.

Circular economy

Here, we use a largely recycled material. The polyester yarn is made from recycled plastic bottles that are collected, washed, and then crushed to obtain chips that are then melted and spun.

Care

To take care of your CARDUELIS swimsuit, machine wash it at 30°C with regular detergent (not too much, and if it's eco-friendly, even better!). You don't need fabric softener or anything else (bleach).

Then, a gentle spin and a normal rinse then air dry.

"L’alternative premium et authentique à Patagonia (devenu trop marketing) : Lagoped, L'excellence.

Le manteau est à la fois léger et incroyablement chaud, tout en étant imperméable et enveloppant. La coupe, inspirée des parkas, offre une chaleur optimale sans la lourdeur habituelle.
Grâce à des matériaux techniques et innovants, la veste donne une sensation d’aération qui la rend polyvalente : elle est parfaite pour l’hiver, mais peut tout à fait s’utiliser en mi-saison.
En résumé, Lagoped est une alternative européenne à Patagonia, mais avec une authenticité qui évite l’effet "trop marketing". Du choix des matériaux à la fabrication : 100 % made in Europe.
