PTARMITOUR: the softshell pants designed for ski touring

A day of ski touring rarely means a constant temperature: you sweat on the way up, cool down during transitions, then head back out into the wind at the summit. PTARMITOUR is built to handle this rhythm without having to stop every half hour.

Brushed-stretch softshell

The 240 g/m² fabric, with stretch and a brushed inner face, provides dry warmth while moving with you, without the stiff, cardboard-like feel of rigid pants when you need a full range of motion. The PFAS-free water-repellent treatment sheds windblown snow and raindrops during forest descents.

Ski-tested details

Two zippered side vents release heat on the climb, ankle zips make it easy to pull the pants over ski boots, and scuff guards reinforce areas rubbed by ski edges and crampons. A zippered cargo pocket on the right thigh, two zippered handwarmer pockets, and water-repellent 5 mm YKK Aquaguard Coil zippers: everything stays within reach, even with gloves on.

PERFORMANCES

240 g/m² brushed stretch fabric: warmth and freedom of movement

At the heart of the PTARMITOUR is its 240 g/m² softshell fabric, woven from recycled ECONYL polyamide and elastane. Brushing the inner face creates a surface that traps a thin layer of warm air against the leg: you get extra warmth without added bulk or weight, with the pants weighing just 500 g in the reference size.

The stretch in the weave is just as important for ski touring: it moves with you through kick turns, steep uphill steps, and bends on the descent, where a rigid fabric can restrict your movement. The fabric remains breathable, helping prevent internal condensation during sustained climbs, while the PFAS-free water-repellent treatment sheds powder snow before it soaks into the material.

Reinforced cuffs and vents: details built to last the season

The cuffs take the most wear when ski touring. PTARMITOUR has edge guards that stand up to friction from ski edges and ski crampons on tight traverses and sketchy kick turns. Just above, two cuff zips let you pull the pants over your boots without taking them off, while the Velcro adjustment tabs close everything neatly over the boot liner.

For temperature regulation, two zippered side vents open wide on the climb, letting out built-up heat without having to stop. All zippers are 5 mm YKK Aquaguard Coil hydrophobic zippers that keep sliding even when covered in wet snow.

PTARMITOUR, the base layer of the Lagoped three-layer system

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers as soon as the temperature drops. It constantly adjusts its protection, never wearing more than necessary.

PTARMITOUR follows the same principle for your lower body: wear it as a base layer, directly against your skin or over a thin technical base layer. It provides all the warmth, stretch and water repellency you need for ski touring in dry weather. When the weather really turns, with heavy snow or rain, simply add waterproof overtrousers on top instead of changing trousers.

Fit & support

PTARMITOUR men's pants: stretch where skiing demands it

PTARMITOUR is a men's pant designed for movement: the four-way stretch fabric lets you take wide kick turns, long carrying strides, and downhill stances without ever pulling at the thighs or knees.

An adjustable waist without a belt

The elastic waist fastens with a hook and includes belt loops for anyone who prefers to add their own belt. It stays securely in place even with a loaded backpack.

A leg opening adjusted to fit your ski boot

At the hem, the stretch-fabric fastening system wraps around the ski boot, while the Velcro tabs let you fine-tune the fit depending on whether you're wearing a lightweight touring boot or a bulkier model.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire, ni ajustée ni ample, avec assez d'aisance à la taille et aux cuisses pour superposer une couche isolante en dessous. Le bas de jambe reste suffisamment large pour passer par-dessus une chaussure de ski ou d'alpinisme sans tirer sur le tissu.
