HARFANG: the two-material thermal tights for winter outings

When the temperature drops, you want tights that keep you warm without turning into a sauna after the first few minutes of climbing. HARFANG does just that with a two-material construction, with each part of the garment made from the knit best suited to it.

Two knits, two functions

The main fabric, a 145 g/m² recycled polyamide knit brushed on the inside, traps warm air against the skin. The panel, a denser 225 g/m² knit, supports areas of movement so your legs stay unrestricted. The result: warmth where you need it and freedom of movement where it matters, all in a lightweight 180 g.

Details designed for your outing

The double-layer waistband spreads pressure across your hips and won’t roll down under a pack’s hip belt or a harness. A side pocket keeps your phone within reach, while a zipped back pocket secures your keys or an energy bar during a snowshoeing outing, a winter hike, or a run in cold weather.

PERFORMANCES

Brushed knit, 145 g/m²: warmth without bulk

It all starts with the brushed interior of the main fabric. This 145 g/m² recycled polyamide knit is brushed on the inside to create a texture that traps a thin layer of warm air against the skin—the same principle as fleece, but on a much finer scale, without adding bulk under trousers.

This warmth wouldn’t be sustainable during exertion without moisture wicking: the knit moves moisture outward, where sweat spreads and dries faster than it condenses. This prevents that damp chill when you stop, reach the summit, or take a break. The knit also provides useful UV protection in the snow, where reflected sunlight doubles exposure.

225 g/m² panel and zippered back pocket: construction that frees movement

HARFANG's second knit, a denser recycled polyamide fabric at 225 g/m² with a finer feel, is placed in a panel where the tights work hardest. With 22% elastane, it withstands repeated hip and knee bends without losing its shape over the miles, and supports the leg without ever squeezing it.

Storage stays simple and effective: a side pocket for things you want to grab quickly, like a phone or card, and a zippered back pocket for things you really don't want to lose, like keys or a bank card, which stays put while running. All this weighs 180 g, light enough to forget from the very first steps.

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air and constantly adapts to the temperature, never wearing more than it needs.

HARFANG plays exactly this role for the lower body: it’s a base layer, the first layer, worn next to the skin to provide essential warmth and wick away moisture produced during exercise. In freezing mountain weather, wear it under a windproof or waterproof pair of pants that protects you from the elements. On milder days, whether snowshoeing, hiking, or running, it works just fine on its own.

HARFANG slim fit: a second skin to wear on its own or under pants

HARFANG has a slim fit, close to the body along the entire leg, in a women’s version. The stretch knit moves with you without constricting: your legs stay free, whether taking a big stride on snowshoes or running.

A waistband that stays in place

The lined waistband stays put without rolling or digging in, even with a backpack belt over it. That means you can forget you’re wearing it for the whole outing.

Wear it on its own or as a base layer

Its lightweight fabric lets it fit under mountain pants on very cold days, without adding bulk at the knees or ankles. Worn on its own, it works just as well for a winter outing as for getting around town.
