Italy - Transforming plastic bottles into recycled polyester yarn
Lagoped’s commitment centers on traceability and transparency. The PHANTOM is made of 92% recycled polyester (r-PET), sourced from plastic bottles collected in Italy.
Lagoped chose to work with the Italian brand Sinterama, which developed Newlife™, a 100% recycled polyester yarn made from plastic bottles collected through citizen recycling programs.
Recycling plastic bottles to make polyester yarn is an innovative process that turns waste into valuable resources. It starts with collecting and sorting bottles, which are then cleaned and shredded into flakes. These flakes are melted and extruded to create a continuous recycled polyester yarn called Newlife™.
Unlike traditional methods, this mechanical process does not require harsh chemicals, which significantly reduces environmental impact. The yarn produced is not only durable but also high quality, ensuring garments have technical performance comparable to virgin fibers while helping reduce plastic waste.
SPAIN - Weaving & dyeing
It is in Spain that this yarn is then knitted to form a lightweight and warm grid fleece, both breathable and insulating, ideal for mountain activities.
Dyeing is done on site, limiting intermediate transport.
HUNGARY - Final assembly
The final assembly is done in Hungary, in a trusted partner workshop. This choice of a short European supply chain limits transport emissions and guarantees fair and controlled production conditions.
