The flannel shirt is much more than just a piece of clothing: it is a timeless symbol of comfort and style, spanning the decades without ever losing its popularity . Flannel has always found its place in the daily lives of adventurers. True to this tradition, Lagoped has designed the PERDIZ shirt, combining the heritage of this classic with an eco-responsible approach. This model perfectly embodies the brand's values: sustainability, authenticity and respect for the environment.

PERDIZ, THE FLANNEL SHIRT THAT COMBINES COMFORT, STYLE AND RESPECT FOR NATURE

The flannel shirt, a warm shirt

Flannel is a historic fabric designed for those who live outdoors . Initially made from wool, it has evolved to include wool and cotton blends or to be composed solely of cotton, or of cotton and polyester blends, as is the case for the PERDIZ shirt, made from recycled materials. Thanks to a technique of "scraping" the cotton, this fabric gains unique thermal characteristics, transforming an ordinary shirt into a warm and soft layer. This method, which dates back several centuries, consists of pressing the fabric between two rollers equipped with micro-picots that fray the material, creating a fluffy and fluid texture. This is how flannel became the essential shirt of peasants, farmers, cowboys, and later trappers and mountaineers, a real second warm layer that protects from the cold.

The checkered pattern, a timeless style

As for the plaid shirt, it has its origins in Scotland, where each clan had its own tartan pattern, a wool fabric with perpendicular stripes of various colors. This identity symbol was then exported in the 19th century, when an English entrepreneur popularized the red and black plaid shirt in the United States, a style that became iconic among lumberjacks and cowboys. Since then, it has been adopted by skiers and mountaineers in the 1950s, before inspiring musicians and popular culture. For the PERDIZ shirt, Lagoped offers four different patterns: the classic green and red, as well as the exclusive Royal Blue and Ochre creations, for a unique and timeless style.

The PERDIZ shirt by Lagoped is a must-have in any wardrobe. Featuring a buttonless collar, 7 classic buttons and a discreet button on the pocket flap, it stands out for its neat details such as the Lagoped label sewn on the side and the embroidered logo on the pocket. It is a versatile piece, both practical and elegant, designed for those looking for a garment that will stand the test of time .

Why is the Lagoped flannel shirt called PERDIZ?

La perdiz is simply the Spanish translation of perdrix, the nickname given to the ptarmigan, the snow partridge.

An innovative and respectful composition

At Lagoped, every decision is guided by the commitment to preserving the environment. The PERDIZ shirt is no exception, thanks to an innovative blend of recycled cotton and recycled polyester . This choice offers a virtuous alternative to classic cotton, even organic. The thread used is made in Spain, without the use of additional dyes, and the fibers are sorted by color. In concrete terms, 1 kg of recycled cotton makes it possible to manufacture six shirts while avoiding the cultivation of arable land, excessive use of water and greenhouse gas emissions, thus significantly reducing the ecological footprint of each piece.

FROM DESIGN TO REPAIR: BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE LAGOPED FLANNEL SHIRT

Design and patronage in Annecy 🇫🇷

It all begins in the heart of the Alps, in Annecy, where Lagoped carefully designs the PERDIZ shirt. This is where the idea of a garment that is both functional and elegant was born, designed to meet the needs of outdoor sports enthusiasts while remaining in line with the brand's environmental values. Every detail, from the pattern to the selection of materials, is carefully considered to offer a durable and timeless product.

A recycled thread made in Spain 🇪🇸

The PERDIZ shirt is made from an innovative yarn, combining recycled cotton and recycled polyester. This yarn, supplied by the Spanish company Ecolife Yarns by Belda Llorens, is the result of a rigorous process of fiber recovery, both pre- and post-consumer . This approach significantly reduces the environmental impact, giving new life to the materials while minimizing the use of natural resources.

The shirt’s fabric is also made in Spain, where the recycled fibres are carefully sorted by colour, avoiding any additional dyeing. This energy- and water-efficient process is an integral part of Lagoped’s eco-friendly approach, ensuring that each shirt has a minimal environmental footprint , whilst maintaining its clean, timeless look.

Assembly in Portugal 🇵🇹

Once the fabric is ready, the PERDIZ shirt is assembled in Portugal, a country renowned for its textile know-how. This European assembly guarantees both quality and ethics, by respecting responsible production standards. Lagoped thus ensures to offer a final product that combines style, comfort and respect for workers and the environment.

A repair shop in the Alps 🇫🇷

To extend the life of the PERDIZ shirt, Lagoped relies on GreenWolf, the repair workshop based in the Alps. This service allows customers to have their products repaired to avoid throwing away , reinforcing the brand's commitment to more sustainable consumption. Lagoped relies on quality after-sales service to ensure that each shirt can accompany you for a long time, whatever your adventures.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR SHIRT TO MAKE IT LAST

To extend the life of your PERDIZ shirt while respecting the environment, a few simple actions make all the difference. Choose a machine wash at a low temperature (30°C is enough) and on a short cycle , with a natural detergent. Rather than putting it in the dryer, let it air dry to reduce its environmental impact. Namely, the care you give to your clothes, particularly washing, represents approximately 14% of their total ecological impact . By taking care of your shirt, you help to limit this footprint while keeping it by your side for longer.
