TYTO: the upcycled wool long-sleeve T-shirt for the mountains

You rarely judge a baselayer at the trailhead. You judge it three hours later, when the climb is over, the wind picks up on the ridge, and you have to stand still for ten minutes without shivering. TYTO is made for that exact moment.

Wool, for steady temperature regulation

Its 100% upcycled wool knit, made in France from reclaimed deadstock, regulates your temperature as you exert yourself: it keeps you warm even when damp, absorbs sweat without that cold fabric stuck to your back feeling, and helps limit odors over several days of running or travel.

Details designed for long efforts

Mesh panels along the sides release heat where it builds up under a backpack. Thumb loops keep the sleeves in place when you put on a jacket or gloves, while the chest logo stays discreet. Weighing 180 g, it works for mountaineering, climbing, hiking, skiing, and gravel riding.

PERFORMANCES

Upcycled wool, 145 g/m²: warm even when wet, odor-free after three days

We measure a knit’s density in grams per square meter: 145 g/m² is the average weight that separates a summer base layer from a winter knit. TYTO sits right at that point: light enough to wear during strenuous activity without overheating, dense enough to keep you warm when stationary at the summit or on a windy belay. The fiber does the rest: wool retains its insulating power even when damp, whereas a synthetic knit quickly feels cold against the skin. It also naturally limits odor buildup, which makes a real difference on a multi-day expedition or a long trip when you don’t wash often. This wool is upcycled, reclaimed from dormant stock in France rather than newly produced.

Side mesh panels and thumbholes: two details that matter when running

Heat doesn’t dissipate evenly: it builds up under the arms and along the sides, precisely where the backpack presses the fabric against your body. That’s why TYTO has mesh panels on the sides, made from an open-knit fabric knitted and dyed in Italy that lets air through on climbs and prevents a sauna effect under a waterproof jacket. At the wrists, the thumbholes serve a simple, effective purpose: they keep the sleeves in place, stop them from riding up when you put on another layer or gloves, and cover the backs of your hands during transitions. Add a little stretch to the mesh, and the garment moves with you as you climb without pulling at the shoulders.

TYTO, the first layer in Lagoped's three-layer system

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air when temperatures drop. It constantly adjusts its protection, never wearing more than it needs.

TYTO serves as the base layer, the first layer, which stays in contact with the skin. Its job isn't to block the wind but to manage moisture: wick sweat outward and maintain a stable temperature between exertion and rest. It is worn under an insulating mid-layer, such as a fleece or lightweight down jacket, itself covered by a waterproof, breathable outer layer when the weather turns bad.

Fit & support

TYTO Active Fit Cut: Close-Fitting Without Being Tight

TYTO has an Active Fit cut, close-fitting to follow your torso and arms without compression. That's what you want from a base layer: the fabric needs to stay in contact with your skin to wick away moisture, while leaving enough room to raise your arms while climbing or turn to face your belayer without the hem riding up.

The long sleeves extend to the thumb loops, which hold the cuffs in place and keep the fabric from bunching under a jacket sleeve. With no unnecessary bulk, you can layer a fleece or down jacket directly over it without restricting your shoulders or armholes.

Coupe Active Fit

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
