SUPA: the 3-layer pants designed for mountaineering

On a ridge climb, you can go from a trail to shelter from the wind and then into wet snow within a few hours. SUPA is built for that pace, with a 3-layer construction that keeps you protected without making you stop every half hour to adjust anything.

Complete protection from waist to ankles

The Sympatex membrane is rated at 20,000 Schmerber with a RET below 14, and all seams are sealed with heat-bonded tape. Hydrophobic YKK Aquaguard Coil 5 mm zippers complete the package, including on the pockets where water usually gets in first.

Details proven on the mountain

Two zippered hand-warmer pockets, a gusseted cargo pocket with a water-drain eyelet, a phone mesh pocket, and an interior safety attachment loop. At the cuffs, the gaiters open with Velcro, leg zips make it easier to pull the pants on while wearing boots, and the edge guards stand up to blows from crampons and ski edges.

PERFORMANCES

Sympatex membrane, 20,000 mm, RET < 8, recycled polyester

Trousers with a 20,000 mm water column membrane

We often accept that trousers are less well protected than a jacket, even though they take the brunt of the snow when you sit down or fall. So the SUPA gets the same 3-layer construction as our EVE mountaineering jacket, with a Sympatex membrane that withstands a 20,000 mm water column - the water pressure it can resist before letting a drop through. Its breathability measures up too: an RET below 8, allowing vapor to escape during a long skinning ascent. Every seam is sealed with heat-bonded tape, without exception. Two zippered side vents let you release heat on the way up without having to take anything off, and the 5 mm YKK Aquaguard zippers keep snow out of the pockets.

Reinforced polyamide fabric edge protectors

Gaiters and edge guards: the lower leg takes a beating

On ski pants, the lower leg takes all the abuse: snow getting in, and especially the ski edge rubbing against it with every turn. The SUPA has an edge-guard reinforcement right in this spot, made from dense 310 g/m² polyamide fabric, as well as inner gaiters with Velcro openings that fit snugly over your boots to keep snow out. Two zips at the bottom of the legs make it easier to pull the pants on over ski boots. At the waist, a wide inner Velcro tab adjusts the fit, and two concealed snap buttons fasten the pants beneath the belt loops. A zippered cargo pocket with a gusset includes a mesh pocket and a safety clip for your phone.

SUPA, the third layer for your lower body

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers when the temperature drops. It constantly adapts, never wearing more than it needs.

SUPA follows the same logic, serving as an outer layer - the third layer - that keeps out water and wind while letting sweat escape. It’s worn over a technical base layer next to the skin and, depending on how cold it is, a thin mid-layer such as thermal tights. The side vents extend this thinking: instead of adding or removing a layer every time your pace changes, you can adjust the pants’ ventilation without stopping.

Fit & support

Active Fit: a SUPA fit designed for movement in the mountains

SUPA is available in an Active Fit cut in the women’s version, fitting close enough to the body not to billow under a harness, yet roomy enough around the thighs and knees to step over obstacles, recover your balance, or climb a steep slope with kick turns without the fabric restricting movement.

A waist adjustment that stays put all day

The waist tightens from the inside with a wide Velcro strap and fastens with two concealed snap buttons. The outer belt loops can accommodate a belt if you prefer that adjustment. It all stays in place under a harness, without uncomfortable bulk around the belay loop.

Layering and leg openings

There’s room to wear technical tights or a thin mid-layer underneath. At the bottom, the leg zips and Velcro gaiters adjust around a boot, ski boot, or large mountaineering boot.

Coupe Active Fit

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
