FOGOLY: the 3-layer anorak designed for freeride skiing

A day of freeriding is rarely a straight line: an approach hike that raises your temperature, a wait at the summit in the wind, then a powder run where snow gets in through every gap. FOGOLY is built for this sequence, with the practicality of an anorak that’s quick to pull on and seals up tight.

3-layer protection without compromising breathability

The recycled polyester fabric paired with the Sympatex membrane offers a 20,000 mm water column and a RET below 14: sleet and rain stay out, while perspiration from the climb escapes. All seams are sealed with heat-applied tape, including those around the openings.

Details tailored for resort and backcountry skiing

Large zippered front pocket with a flap, inner chest pocket, divided mesh pocket for skins or gloves, zippered lift-pass pocket on the left arm, snow skirt, helmet-compatible hood adjustable at the back of the head, and hook-and-loop wrist closures. The 5 mm YKK Aquaguard Vislon center half-zip and right-side opening make it easy to pull the garment on over your helmet.

PERFORMANCES

Sympatex membrane, 20,000 mm, RET < 8, recycled polyester

Breathability meets protection: the membrane that keeps pace on skin tracks

Freeriding means alternating strenuous climbs with exposed descents. This is exactly when an insufficiently breathable jacket becomes unbearable: you’re soaked from the inside before the first raindrop falls. That’s why the FOGOLY uses the Sympatex membrane from our EVE mountaineering jacket, with a RET below 8, compared with under 13 for our lightweight jackets. The lower the number, the more easily water vapor escapes. Protection is just as strong, with a 20,000 mm water column rating—the water pressure the membrane can withstand before a drop gets through. On the outer surface, a PFAS-free water-repellent treatment makes water bead into round droplets instead of spreading out and weighing down the fabric. Underarm vents complete the setup.

Underarm vents and a front pocket: regulate your temperature without taking off your jacket

An anorak is less easy to take off than a full-zip jacket, so you need to regulate your temperature without removing it. FOGOLY has side vents under the arms to release heat during a skinning ascent or approach hike, and a center half-zip you can open to let air circulate around your torso. A side zip on the right completes the ventilation system and makes the anorak easier to put on.

The storage follows the same logic of movement: the large front pocket, closed with a zip and flap, remains accessible while wearing a backpack; the divided mesh inner pocket holds gloves or skins; and the zippered pass pocket on the left arm means you don't have to reopen your jacket at every turnstile.

FOGOLY, the third layer of the Lagoped system for freeride skiing

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend in with the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air when temperatures drop. It constantly adapts, never wearing more than it needs.

FOGOLY follows the same principle: it’s an outer layer, the system’s third layer, blocking snow, rain, and wind while letting perspiration escape. It’s worn over an insulating midlayer, such as a fleece or lightweight down jacket, which goes over a technical base layer next to the skin. On a mild day, the anorak alone over a base layer is often enough; at the summit in the wind, you add the insulating layer underneath, not change your outer protection.

Fit & support

FOGOLY regular fit: a unisex anorak designed for layering

FOGOLY comes in a regular fit, a straight unisex cut with room in the shoulders and hips without feeling baggy. It's the kind of fit you want in a freeride anorak: roomy enough to wear over a thick fleece or a lightweight down jacket, yet snug enough for the snow skirt to do its job when you fall into powder.

The wrist Velcro straps tighten over gloves or loosen for ventilation, and the hood adjusts at the back of the head to stay in place over a helmet, even in profile in the wind. The half-length center zipper and right-side zipper let you put on or take off the jacket without removing your helmet, a detail that makes all the difference at the summit when your hands are cold.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire à travers le buste, avec assez d'aisance pour superposer une couche technique en dessous sans compression. Les manches gardent une bonne liberté de mouvement pour les activités outdoor du quotidien, de la randonnée aux sorties en montagne.

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
