Lucie Valentin 🇫🇷
Natural Risk Engineer
I grew up in Provence, always drawn to outdoor activities. It was during my studies in Grenoble that I started frequenting the mountains regularly, then I settled in the Hautes-Alpes, between the Écrins and the Queyras. I was able to join the women's mountaineering group 05, which was a real turning point. There I found inspiring companions, I learned to trust myself and to push my limits... all the keys to finding my place in the mountains!
ACTIVITIES
What do you do for a living?
I work on natural hazards in the mountains (avalanches, torrential floods, landslides, etc.) to protect communities. It's a meaningful job for me: understanding how the mountains work to better live with them.
What do you like to do in the mountains?
I ski tour, mountaineer, paraglide, and cycle. I'm a bit of an all-rounder; what stimulates me isn't performance but rather varying approaches and mixing disciplines. The mountains offer an infinite playground!
What are your plans?
Continue my activities, integrating more paragliding and ski mountaineering (skiing, mountain biking, and paragliding). Additionally, I would like to pass on my knowledge, especially to encourage more women to find their place in the mountains.
All this while learning to look at the mountains differently and taking a greater interest in the wildlife, flora, and everything that exists beyond our tracks.
Why Lagoped?
I see myself in Lagoped for its committed vision, its responsible approach and its desire to produce differently, more locally and more sustainably.
Beyond these shared values, I had the chance to meet some of the team: people who are as passionate as they are warm, with whom I immediately connected.
