Luc Demange 🇫🇷

Luc is part of the expedition Line 2, a team of adventure and ski enthusiasts, who are crossing the Pyrenees on ski touring in the winter of 2024/2025. Their common thread is to connect the Mediterranean to the Atlantic using the strength of their legs. They will leave with their skis and their tent with the aim of living a real 2-month adventure according to their values, without going to the other side of the world.

Who is Luke?

I love doing sports in the mountains, but above all, I simply love spending time there. Being outside is essential to me, it allows me to find my balance in everyday life. If Grenoble has adopted me today, it is in Auvergne that I grew up. While exploring the Chaîne des Puys and the Combes du Sancy with my family, I fell in love with the great outdoors and the summits. Then, during my studies in Lyon, I met other people who were passionate about these mountains, and who were kind enough to accompany me there. Today, they have become my friends and it is with them that I travel the Alps by walking, running or skiing!

I am also an engineer and I participate at my level in the ecological transition of the building. The protection of the planet is a compass that guides my choices and I try as much as possible to be in agreement with this conviction at each stage of my life.

My projects?

I am in the middle of preparing my next project: “La Ligne 2 - Crossing the Pyrenees on skis”! A winter expedition in the Pyrenees, which we are going to do with two friends, Paul and Lucas. The idea had germinated on the school benches, to go for a long time in the mountains, to live with them for weeks like the great explorers whose stories thrilled our childhoods. Go for a long time, yes, but go close! Convinced that adventure is on our doorstep, we have chosen to take a step back and consider the Pyrenees as an immensity to explore. Crossing them from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, in winter and under tent, this is a project that risks giving us a hard time!

The aim is also to make a medium-length film retracing our history, in order to share it and continue to inspire dreams of great adventures that create strong bonds between us and with the mountains.

Line 2?

And yes, there was “La Ligne 1”, my first long experience in the mountains during my studies. A crossing of the French Alps on ski touring that gave rise to a first film retracing the moments of intense emotions that we experienced. These few weeks of life in the heart of the mountains are engraved in me and I can't wait to relive this intensity in the Pyrenees!

One emotion in particular that I would like to find again is that of getting out of the hectic pace of our lives. Merging into the movement of the mountain and accepting with humility that we do not control everything.
