Moving from single-pitch crags to multi-pitch routes requires different logistics and habits. This day, supervised by the Grenoble Guide Office, is for those who already lead climb indoors or on single-pitch outdoor crags at level 5a/5b and want to discover how a multi-pitch equipped route works.

The Lagoped Refuge supports this mountain school, organized for four to six people per guide.

MOUNTAIN SCHOOL PROGRAM: THE BASICS

Before the outing

A 40-minute video conference the day before allows the guide to present the chosen route: reading the topo, weather conditions, necessary techniques and equipment.

On site

The day lays the foundations of multi-pitch climbing: movement techniques, essential knots, rope and anchor management. Rappelling techniques are also covered, a step often unfamiliar to climbers used to single-pitch crags.

Risk management is addressed concretely: recognizing dangers related to conditions, weather, and fatigue on a multi-pitch route. The day ends with the preparation and completion of a multi-pitch climb, directly applying the concepts covered.

An end-of-trip debrief reviews the day and safety management.
