GEBO RIB: the 2-ply knitted beanie with a cuff for mountain outings

A beanie is often the first thing you grab when you leave the refuge and the last thing you take off at the car. GEBO RIB was designed for this simple but crucial role: keeping you warm without weighing you down, at just 50 grams.

2-ply knit designed for warmth

The two-ply knit gives the fabric extra density, making all the difference when the wind picks up on a ridge or you're waiting your turn at the belay. The soft, stretchy ribbing fits your head without feeling tight and springs back into shape every time you pull your hood over it.

Simple details, proven in use

The folded cuff doubles the thickness over your forehead and ears, the areas that feel the cold first. Fold it up to keep your field of vision clear when wearing a helmet, or pull it down when the temperature drops. The embroidered logo replaces a printed label—a detail that won't itch or fade in the wash.

PERFORMANCES

Yarn made from 70% recycled wool and 25% recycled polyamide, spun in the Tarn region.

A 2-ply knit, denser and warmer

The GEBO RIB is knitted with 2 plies instead of one. In practical terms, the knit is denser, so it traps more air and blocks the wind better: it’s the version to choose when it’s really cold, as you leave the refuge or ride an exposed chairlift. The folded cuff doubles the thickness over the ears and lets you adjust the height on your forehead. The wool is recycled and spun in the Tarn using a process that preserves the fiber length and produces a strong yarn. The blend contains 70% recycled wool, 25% polyamide, and 5% other fibers, sorted by color before spinning, so no dyeing is needed. The beanie is knitted in Italy, weighs 50 g, and has an embroidered logo.

Undyed yarn, color-sorted before spinning

Dyeing is one of the most water- and energy-intensive steps in the textile industry. With GEBO RIB, it’s not part of the process. The fibers are sorted by color before spinning, and that sorting gives the beanie its color—not a dye bath. This approach is at the heart of Lagoped’s philosophy: reduce impact at the source rather than offset it afterward.

The logo is embroidered directly into the knit, with no printing or transfer. It’s a detail that wears better over time, doesn’t crack in the wash, and avoids an extra branding step. The beanie is knitted and assembled in Italy, using yarn spun in Brassac, in the Tarn region.

Fit & support

The GEBO RIB beanie’s ribbing: a flexible knit that fits every head

The GEBO RIB is a unisex beanie, worn by both men and women. Its ribbed knit stretches widthwise, allowing it to fit a range of head sizes without squeezing the temples after two hours of walking.

The cuff can be worn two ways. Folded up, it shortens the beanie and leaves the ears uncovered, making it comfortable during exertion or under a mountaineering helmet. Unfolded, it covers more of the nape and forehead and doubles the knit thickness where needed. A jacket or puffer hood fits over it without pushing the beanie back.

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
