A word about your job?

At 21, I became an aspiring mountain guide without really knowing what this job would bring me. I arrived in this profession at an age where the word "future" was simply tomorrow. Working two days for two weeks of mountain adventures with friends is a good ratio at that age!

My first years of work gradually revealed to me the deep meaning of the profession of guide, and I developed a taste for discovering the mountain in all its forms. The human aspect wins over the technicality of the race.

Ultimately, the place doesn't matter since the human adventure is always there! Guiding is above all this: meeting, marveling together, allowing you to forget for a moment the constraints "from below" to contemplate the wonders of the reliefs and sometimes also, surpassing yourself, taming your fears and going back down into the valley stronger, happier, more relaxed.

When a guide becomes a link in the chain of happiness for his clients, then I believe he is accomplishing one of the most beautiful aspects of this profession!

Your story with the mountain?

Son of refuge keepers in the Mercantour massif, I explored the mountains at a very early age and discovered the many passions that would guide my life: trout fishing, animals, rock climbing, skiing, mountaineering, paragliding. All these vices quickly penetrated my body and regularly launched it into a number of slightly crazy projects on the reliefs of our globe. By becoming a guide and registering for a profession, I found an excuse to be able to tell my parents that I had grown up and that I no longer only thought about playing. But the illusion was short-lived!

Your projects or your biggest dreams?

I set off to discover the reliefs of our planet for more than 10 years: the Great North, the Atlas, the Himalayas, the Southern Cordillera, the Alps of course. With skis, crampons, paragliders, ropes... All this was dreamed of, then experienced. Alone, with friends, as a professional. Each time a new adventure, human and technical.

Obviously, the discovery, the thirst for ever-renewed adventure... but beyond these commonplaces, I can say that today I dream differently. With other eyes, other desires. Records, figures, ratings no longer inspire desires or admiration in me. There are too many around us, we are invaded by figures!

They are even the ones who lead some mountaineers to the tip of the ice axe. In the end, what is the point of all this since we go to the mountains to experience something beautiful and useless. It would be like saying that a painting is more beautiful because it was painted faster. See the absurdity! We don't care. What matters is that it is beautiful to contemplate. Its power is that it offers a different perspective on existence to those who observe it.

To sum up, I dream of a mountain without numbers, without a stopwatch, focused on beauty and the wonderful emotions to be experienced!

Why the Lagoped Family?

Finally a company that is as close as possible to the environmental constraints that are imposed on us all. So yes, logically these are the values that I also proudly adhere to by joining this family!
