GRAND TETRAS: the 3/4-length three-layer jacket designed for mountaineering

On mountaineering routes, protection often stops too high on the thighs when you find yourself sitting in the snow at a belay or exposed to the wind on a ridge. GRAND TETRAS's 3/4-length cut addresses this specific problem: it extends lower than a classic jacket without interfering with your harness or leg movement.

Fully seam-sealed three-layer construction

The fabric offers 20,000 mm of waterproofing and RET<13 breathability, with all seams sealed using heat-applied tape. The central YKK Aquaguard Coil 5 mm zipper and Aquaguard Coil 3 mm pocket zippers are water-repellent, securing the usual points of entry on a technical jacket.

Details tailored for the route

The two zippered handwarmer pockets remain accessible while wearing a backpack, an interior zippered pocket keeps documents dry, and the two-way central zipper lets you unzip from the bottom without exposing your torso. The large helmet-compatible hood adjusts at three points: the collarbones and the back of the head.

PERFORMANCES

Sympatex membrane, 20,000 mm, RET < 13, recycled polyester

The membrane in our mountain jackets, in a 3/4-length cut for everyday wear

A city jacket has no reason to be less protective than a mountain jacket. The GRAND TETRAS therefore uses the same construction as our technical jackets: an outer fabric, a Sympatex membrane and a lining, bonded together into a single composite. It withstands a 20,000 mm water column, meaning the water pressure it can withstand before letting a drop through, and its RET below 13 lets vapor escape when you pick up the pace to catch a train. All seams are sealed with heat-bonded tape. There's another thing we care about in a jacket worn every day: its color. The fabric passes a test involving 500 hours of exposure to light equivalent to sunlight, and a color that lasts means a jacket you can keep for longer.

YKK Aquaguard zippers, waterproof coating

Waterproof closures, because water always finds the weak point

On a waterproof jacket, the zipper is the most exposed weak link: a simple row of teeth won’t keep anything out. That’s why the pockets on the GRAND TETRAS are fitted with 3 mm YKK Aquaguard zippers, whose matte coated tape covers the teeth and keeps water from seeping in. You can feel the difference: they glide a little less smoothly than a regular zipper. That’s normal—it’s the price of waterproofing. The main zipper uses the same design in 5 mm, with a two-way slider that lets you unzip from the bottom when sitting down or walking quickly. A zippered inner pocket keeps your phone dry, and the large hood adjusts at three points to follow your head movements without blocking your view.

GRAND TETRAS, the third layer of the Lagoped system

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers as soon as the temperature drops. It constantly adapts, never wearing more than it needs.

GRAND TETRAS follows the same principle: it’s an outer layer, the third layer, which blocks rain, snow and wind while allowing perspiration to escape. It’s worn over an insulating mid-layer, such as a fleece or lightweight down jacket, which in turn sits over a breathable base layer next to the skin. When the effort intensifies, open the two-way zipper or remove the insulating layer underneath; the jacket remains the protection you keep on.

Fit & support

Regular 3/4 cut: a jacket that provides extra coverage without restricting movement

GRAND TETRAS is a women's jacket with a regular fit, neither tight across the chest nor loose, and a 3/4 length that reaches the upper thighs. This length provides protection when sitting at a shelter or walking into the wind, while keeping your legs free for a long stride or a climbing step.

Roomy enough for layers underneath

The room in the shoulders and armholes lets you wear a fleece or a lightweight down jacket underneath without feeling constricted. The drawcord at the waist and hook-and-loop wrist tabs let you cinch the jacket when the wind picks up, while the helmet-compatible hood, adjustable at three points, follows your head's movements without slipping off.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire à travers le buste, avec assez d'aisance pour superposer une couche technique en dessous sans compression. Les manches gardent une bonne liberté de mouvement pour les activités outdoor du quotidien, de la randonnée aux sorties en montagne.

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
