TENGMALM: the windproof softshell jacket for hiking in dry weather

Some hiking days bring no rain, but the wind is waiting as soon as you step out from under the trees. That’s exactly what TENGMALM is made for: a softshell that blocks the wind, keeps you warm, and moves with you, without the stiffness of a waterproof jacket.

Stretch fabric brushed on the inside

The 240 g/m² Shark Brushed fabric is stretchy and brushed on the inside. The result: a soft, warm feel against your skin or base layer, with freedom of movement that doesn’t restrict your shoulders or arms when you lean on your trekking poles or place a hand on a rock.

Details designed for walking, not posing

Two zippered hand-warmer pockets keep your hands warm during breaks or store a map safely, the hem drawcord blocks cold air from creeping in on exposed ridges, and both the center zip and pocket zips are 3 mm YKK zippers, chosen to last season after season. The water-repellent treatment is PFAS-free.

PERFORMANCES

Stretch ECONYL polyamide: windproof, warm, and water-repellent without PFAS

All of TENGMALM’s performance comes down to its fabric: 240 g/m² of recycled ECONYL polyamide, tightly woven to block the wind and brushed on the inside to trap a layer of warm air against the body. That brushing makes all the difference when stopping on a ridge or setting off early in the morning, when a simple windbreaker lets the cold set in.

The elastane blended with the polyamide makes the fabric stretch in every direction, so it stays comfortable during moves that require support and on sections where you need to place your hands. On the surface, a PFAS-free water-repellent treatment makes the first drops and powdery snow bead up, giving you time to get out your waterproof jacket if the weather really turns.

YKK 3 mm zippers and an adjustable hem: details built to last

The center zipper and two hand pockets are fitted with 3 mm YKK zippers, a size chosen to keep them easy to operate with thin gloves and able to withstand repeated opening and closing throughout a day of hiking. This is often where a jacket gives out before its fabric does, so it pays not to compromise.

The zippered pockets keep your phone or keys secure, even when bending down, and remain accessible while wearing a pack. The drawcord at the hem can be adjusted with one hand while walking, letting you seal out drafts when the wind picks up without stopping or taking off your pack.

TENGMALM, a flexible outer layer for hiking

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air. It constantly adjusts its protection, never wearing more than necessary.

TENGMALM follows the same principle. It acts as an outer layer, the third layer, protecting you from the wind and external abrasion. What makes it special is its brushed fabric, which also provides some warmth, often making a mid-layer unnecessary on outings in dry weather. It can be worn directly over a technical base layer, or over a lightweight fleece when temperatures drop.

Fit & support

Unisex regular fit: a softshell you can wear on its own or under another layer

TENGMALM has a straight cut that is neither fitted nor loose, in a unisex version that suits both men's and women's body types. It leaves room for a technical base layer and a light fleece underneath without pulling at the armholes, while staying close enough to the body to avoid unnecessary bulk under a backpack.

The drawcord at the hem lets you adjust the bottom of the jacket as your outing progresses: tighten it when the wind whips up at the pass, loosen it on the way up when you want a little more airflow. At 480 g, it's light enough to wear all day rather than stow in your pack.
