Cut / Fit

The HEYDO down jacket has a close-fitting cut so as not to leave too much air between the body and the interior, which improves heat retention. don't hesitate to take it to the right size. There is a size guide available next to the size choice to help you find yours.

Respect the environment

  • The fabric comes from recycling plastic bottles
  • The yarn is made in Italy
  • Mechanical Anti-Down treatment (no CHEMICAL treatment)
  • 100% polyester, the HEYDO down jacket is recyclable
  • C0 water-repellent (PFC-free)
  • 70% recycled polyester wadding. 30% new polyester.

The multi-layer system

To protect itself from bad weather, the ptarmigan changes its plumage depending on the seasons. It turns white in winter to escape predators and increases the fluffiness of its feathers to protect itself from the cold. We couldn't see ourselves making a down jacket from ptarmigan feathers. So we use recycled cotton wool, the role of which is to trap the hot air inside. It is the ideal complement under the EVE jacket for skiing in winter, walking in the forest or waiting for latecomers on ski touring.

The “multi-layer” system is based on the principle of superimposing different layers of clothing:

  • internal layer whose properties transport perspiration to the outside of the garment
  • intermediate layer with the role of insulation and thermal regulation (HEYDO)
  • outer layer with weather protection function (waterproof, breathable, windproof) (EVE)

The “multi-layer” system ensures protection against bad weather while providing maximum comfort and versatility. During exercise you need less heat than when stopping, but you still need maximum protection against wind, rain and snow.

Maintenance & Water repellency

The HEYDO down jacket has the great advantage of being machine washable, with the zips closed at 30°, classic detergent (not too much), no fabric softener or other (bleach), gentle spinning and rinsing thoroughly. So no need for tennis balls or brushing your clothes for hours after drying. The garment air dries on a hanger. Water repellency does not last forever and fades over time. Water-repellents without perfluorocarbons (called C0 because they do not contain PFC) are less persistent than the C8 and C6 commonly used (this is also one of the problematic characteristics of their persistence in nature). After several washes, it will be possible to apply a spray product to revive this water-repellency (always PFC-free). But keep in mind that water repellency (letting water slide off the fabric) does not mean waterproofing (not allowing water to pass through). The down jacket is not waterproof and requires wearing a jacket over it in case of rain. Otherwise, you will quickly get soaked. For waterproofing there is of course the EVE jacket.

Manufacturing EUROPE

Always passionate about textile know-how, we are committed to manufacturing quality outdoor clothing. The fabric we use for the exterior (the shell) and the interior (the lining) are the same. It is woven in Isère from the same recycled yarn that makes up the EVE jackets and the SUPA pants and the URSK jackets. It weighs 68gr/m² and has a silky feel.

Once the weaving has been completed, the fabric is ironed through the "calender" in order to apply pressure and heat over the entire surface of the roll in length and width. This allows the spaces between the woven threads to be tightened (without closing them). This treatment is called "downproof". It keeps the wadding very thin inside to prevent it from coming out through the gaps in the fabric. This treatment on our down jackets is mechanical and not chemical as is frequently the case (simpler, less expensive but chemical).

We share with you the origins and manufacturing stages of your garment as well as the techniques used to be able to go on an adventure well equipped. Because we believe that we cherish best what we know well, knowing what we wear becomes for us an additional guarantee of sustainability.

Manufacturing in Europe allows us to benefit from immense textile know-how. There are fantastic artisans and specialist manufacturers at the forefront of textile innovations who produce materials that the whole world envies.

You take full advantage of this historical know-how with clothing of high technical quality, adapted to the practice of all outdoor activities, because mountain culture is anchored in European history, the historic cradle of mountaineering.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY:

To help us daily in our choice of materials for our clothing we return to the first idea of Lagoped: the sobriety of the bird. And this sobriety translates into reducing our pressure on Nature. Concretely, to achieve this, we have decided not to use materials from extraction. This implies excluding natural materials (from agriculture or livestock) or virgin synthetic materials (oil industry) and favoring the recycling of waste for the manufacture of our clothing.

It is a strong and structuring choice that allows us to preserve water and arable land, avoid deforestation and limit greenhouse gas emissions.

You fully participate in the development of recycling and, together, we use already available resources and reduce our pressure on Nature.

SOURCING EUROPE:

“Made in” is the most visible and best known part to the general public. It constitutes the final phase of garment assembly: in practice, a sewing workshop receives rolls of fabric and accessories, cuts according to the pattern provided (the equivalent of plans for a house) and assembles the final garment. This final phase of “made in” is the visible part of the iceberg of clothing manufacturing but it only concerns 8% of the impact on the environment ( source Measuring Fashion, Quantis 2018 ).

The invisible part of the iceberg represents 92% of the impact that is generated upstream of this final phase. This is what we call “sourcing” in textile jargon. You have to make the fibers then the yarn, then comes the weaving/knitting (the rolls) and finally the dyeing and finishes (washes and water-repellents for example).

Taking a cinematic image, “Made in” corresponds to the last 8 minutes of a 2 hour film. It seemed difficult to follow the story well if we missed the preceding one hour and fifty-two minutes. We carry out sourcing and assembly in the EU in order to maintain better control over the entire duration of the film and all environmental impacts.

In order to improve traceability, we use materials manufactured in the EU from the wire (France, Italy, Spain, Slovenia). Being involved in all stages of fabric manufacturing allows us to make the right choices at each stage. Our suppliers share our approach: they are transparent and give us all the information about their own suppliers.

For you, it's the assurance of knowing what you have on your back and setting off into Nature with a light heart.
