DOHLE: the 1/2-zip microfleece designed as a technical midlayer

On a predawn ridge-running approach, the question is never whether you'll get cold, but how quickly you'll get too hot. DOHLE was designed for that gray area: warm enough for a belay stop, breathable enough to keep on while climbing.

Brushed knit inside, smooth outside

The fleece is brushed next to the skin, trapping warm air and feeling instantly soft, while staying smooth on the outside so it slides easily under a waterproof jacket or harness. At 250 g, it packs into a corner of your bag without weighing down your outing.

Details that matter at the wrist and zipper

Thumb loops keep the sleeves in place when pulling on a jacket or gloves, and prevent drafts between the wrist and mitten. The 3 mm YKK center half-zip acts as a temperature regulator: open it a few centimeters on the climb, then zip it up to the collar as soon as the wind picks up. A heart embroidery signs the piece, with no printed overlay.

250 grams of warmth: the warmth-to-weight ratio of brushed knit fabric

DOHLE weighs 250 g, placing it in the category of microfleece layers you always pack, even when every gram counts on a day hike. This light weight doesn’t come at the expense of warmth: the brushed inner knit creates a layer of still air against the skin, the very principle behind fleece insulation.

The other half of the equation is breathability. Knitted at 145 g/m² for the body, the fabric lets moisture vapor produced during exertion pass through rather than trapping it against your back. Combined with the central 3 mm YKK half-zip, which lets you open the collar by a few centimeters, it prevents the classic overheating spike at the start of a climb and the need to stop and change clothes.

Thumb loops and 225 g/m² reinforced panel: ergonomic design for exposed areas

The thumb loops at the wrists solve a real problem: sleeves riding up when you put on a jacket, followed by a draft between your glove and forearm on a windy ridge. Slip your thumb through the loop and the sleeve stays in place, creating a seamless transition to your glove or mitt with no cold spots.

The panel, knitted at 225 g/m² compared with 145 g/m² for the rest of the garment, adds material where the fleece works hardest and the backpack rubs. It remains stretchy thanks to its 22% elastane content, allowing the range of motion needed for a shoulder movement while climbing or a maneuver under sail. Heart embroidery replaces printing, with no film or plastic layer.

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: it turns white in winter to blend into the snow and fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air. It constantly adjusts its insulation to the temperature, never wearing more than it needs.

DOHLE serves exactly this purpose in the layering system: it’s a midlayer, the second layer, trapping the heat generated by the body while allowing sweat to escape. It’s worn over a technical baselayer close to the body, and under a waterproof, windproof outer layer when the weather turns. In dry, mild weather, it works on its own as an outer layer, thanks to its smooth exterior finish.

Active Fit: a DOHLE microfleece that moves with your body without constricting

DOHLE is cut in Active Fit, a close-fitting design made for a woman's body. It follows the torso and arms without hanging loose, preventing bunching under a backpack or protective jacket.

A layer to wear between two others

The elastane in the main fabric and the inserts lets the garment stretch with a shoulder movement while climbing or a bar movement while sailing, then spring back into shape. Wear it directly over a technical T-shirt or next to the skin, and it fits under a waterproof jacket without adding bulk. Thumb loops keep the sleeves down when layering, and the half-zip lets you open the collar as soon as the temperature rises.
