CARCAJOU: the recycled cotton and polyester crewneck sweatshirt for the mountains and the city

Some pieces are pulled on without a second thought: at the foot of a climbing route in the morning when the rock is still cold, after a hike while your shoes dry, or simply to walk across town. CARCAJOU was designed for just that role: a sweatshirt you wear all the time without ever having to think about it.

330 g/m² fleece that keeps you warm without weighing you down

The fleece, knitted in France, weighs 330 g/m², making it genuinely warm when you're standing still, taking a break, or belaying, without the stuffy feel of a closed-fleece layer. The 3% elastane adds stretch for movement: the sweatshirt moves with your shoulder when you raise your arm, then falls back into place.

A chest pocket in recycled technical fabric

The patch chest pocket is made from recycled technical fabric, which is more durable than the fleece, so you can keep essentials close at hand without rummaging through your bag. The collar, cuffs, and hem are finished with rib knit, also made in France.

PERFORMANCES

330 g/m² fleece knitted in France: warmth where you really need it

At the heart of CARCAJOU is its 330 g/m² fleece, knitted in Moreuil, France, from recycled cotton and polyester yarn. This weight is the balance we were looking for: dense enough to retain body heat when you’re stopped, at a checkpoint, or at camp in the evening, yet flexible enough not to get in the way when you set off again. The brushed interior traps a layer of air against the skin, which does the insulating. The 3% recycled elastane, spun in Germany, completes the picture by giving the knit enough stretch for shoulder and arm movements, then letting it return to its original shape without losing its form over repeated washes.

Color-sorted fibers: a sweatshirt that has never been dyed

CARCAJOU’s Navy doesn’t come from a dye bath. The recycled cotton and polyester fibers are sorted by color before being spun in Spain, then spun together to produce the final shade directly. This process eliminates one of the most water- and energy-intensive steps in the textile industry, with a tangible effect when worn: the color is in the fiber, not applied to the surface, so it doesn’t fade in the same way wash after wash. The material itself is ECOLIFE certified, which ensures the traceability of the recycled polyester used in the yarn.

WOLVERINE, the second layer in the Lagoped system

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap air and protect itself from the cold. It constantly adjusts its insulation to the temperature, never wearing more than it needs.

WOLVERINE occupies exactly this place in the Lagoped system: the intermediate layer, the second layer, whose role is to retain the heat produced by the body. It is worn over a technical base layer close to the skin, which wicks away moisture, and slips under a waterproof, windproof outer layer whenever the weather turns. In the city or in dry weather, it works perfectly on its own.

Fit & support

Unisex regular-fit cut: a sweatshirt that hangs straight and layers easily

CARCAJOU comes in a unisex regular fit: neither fitted nor loose, it hangs straight through the torso and leaves room at the shoulders. It works just as well worn on its own against the skin as over a technical T-shirt.

Roomy enough to wear under a jacket

The body and sleeves are roomy enough to wear the sweatshirt under a waterproof jacket without feeling restricted at the armholes, which matters when layering at the start of an outing. The 3% elastane moves with you instead of holding you back.

Ribbed trim that holds its shape

The crew neck, cuffs, and hem are made of ribbed knit: they spring back into shape after being stretched and keep the sweatshirt from riding up when you raise your arms or carry a bag.
