PERNICE SH2: the stretch shorts for long mountain approaches

On a midsummer mountaineering approach, the hike to the hut is often under a blazing sun, with a heavy pack, along rocky trails where fabric rubs against the rock. PERNICE SH2 was made for that moment, when you want freedom of movement without sacrificing durability.

4-way stretch fabric that stands up to the terrain

Its fabric, made from recycled ECONYL polyamide and elastane, stretches in all four directions, allowing you to take a long stride over a rocky step or climb down a section without the shorts pulling at your thighs. At 145 g/m² and weighing 170 g, they’re lightweight enough to slip into a pack in case the weather turns.

Details designed for walking

Two hand pockets, two patch back pockets, a hidden snap-button waist closure, and belt loops to adjust the fit under a harness or pack belt. The round embroidered logo on the right pocket and the "one with nature" embroidery at the back left sign the piece without adding bulk.

At high altitude, solar radiation intensifies quickly, and your legs are exposed all day on a glacier approach or a ridge hike. The PERNICE SH2 fabric has a UPF 50+ rating, the highest level on the scale, meaning it lets through only a tiny fraction of UV rays on covered areas.

This protection comes from a 145 g/m² fabric made from recycled ECONYL polyamide blended with elastane, which stretches in all four directions. The result: a dense weave that filters the sun and resists abrasion from rock, without the stiffness usually associated with tightly woven fabrics. The shorts move with your leg as you take a big step, then return to their original shape.

PFAS-free water repellency and just 170 g on the scale: shorts you forget are in your pack

The water-repellent finish on the PERNICE SH2 is formulated without fluorinated compounds. A brief shower or a splash from a stream you need to cross beads on the surface instead of soaking the fabric, so you don't set off again with heavy, cold shorts clinging to your thighs. In a prolonged downpour, the fabric will eventually become saturated, then dry quickly thanks to its low weight.

At just 170 g, it folds down to a tiny size at the bottom of an alpine climbing pack. It's the kind of item you take along with your trousers for the approach without giving it a second thought, because it adds neither weight to your back nor hesitation about setting off.

PERNICE SH2, the first layer for summer stalking

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers when the cold sets in and smooths them down as soon as the temperature rises. It constantly adjusts what it wears, without ever getting weighed down.

PERNICE SH2 follows the same principle. It serves as a base layer, worn directly against the skin, that lets heat and moisture escape during exertion. For summer stalking, it’s all you need. When the weather turns bad or the temperature drops at higher altitudes, simply add a windproof or waterproof pair of pants over it, without needing to change.

Fit & support

PERNICE SH2 Regular Fit Shorts: ease without bagginess

PERNICE SH2 is a men's Regular Fit short: neither tight on the leg nor baggy. There’s enough room to step over obstacles, pull yourself up onto a boulder, or sit on a ledge without the fabric getting in the way, while still looking neat enough to wear at the refuge or on a terrace after your climb.

An adjustable fit at the waist

The concealed snap closure keeps the waistline clean, and the belt loops let you tighten the fit as your pack empties throughout the day. The 4-way stretch fabric moves with you rather than restricting you, so you won’t have to keep tugging at your waistband every fifteen minutes on the way up.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire, ni ajustée ni ample, avec assez d'aisance à la taille et aux cuisses pour superposer une couche isolante en dessous. Le bas de jambe reste suffisamment large pour passer par-dessus une chaussure de ski ou d'alpinisme sans tirer sur le tissu.
