ROKA: the long-sleeve technical T-shirt for a base layer

On a long climb, it’s always the same story: you set off feeling cool, start sweating, then the ridge wind chills you down. ROKA was designed for that exact moment, when your base layer needs to wick away moisture quickly rather than hold it against your skin.

A lightweight knit that wicks moisture

Its 145 g/m² knit, made from recycled ECONYL polyamide and Lycra elastane, is designed to wick moisture quickly: sweat moves to the outside of the fabric and dries without leaving that wet, clingy feeling on your back when you stop. Weighing just 135 grams, it’s comfortable for everyday wear in the mountains and slips into a pack without you noticing.

Long sleeves and UPF 50+ protection

The long sleeves cover your arms in exposed areas, whether on a glacier, ridge, or sun-baked alpine pasture, while the UPF 50+ rating means you don’t have to reapply sunscreen every two hours. The chest logo is the only branding, subtle enough for a piece you can wear under a fleece or on its own.

PERFORMANCES

ECONYL recycled polyamide stretch fabric, UPF 50+

A moisture-wicking knit designed as a base layer

A base layer isn't meant to keep you warm; it's meant to keep you dry: sweat is what makes you cold, not the cold itself. The ROKA uses a lightweight, 145 g/m² moisture-wicking knit that doesn't absorb sweat but moves it to the surface, where it evaporates. You stay dry against your skin, and the next layer can do its job. It's made of 90% ECONYL recycled polyamide and 10% elastane, knitted and dyed in Italy, and weighs 165 g in men's size M and 135 g in women's. The long sleeves also protect you from the sun with UPF 50+ fabric: on a glacier or an exposed ridge, it's often more practical than sunscreen you forget to reapply.

UPF 50+ and stretch: sun protection without sacrificing freedom of movement

ROKA's long sleeves aren't just about temperature. The knit fabric has a UPF 50+ rating, which means it blocks the vast majority of UV rays that reach the skin. At high elevations, where UV exposure increases with altitude and reflects off snow or light-colored rock, this protection doesn't wear off with perspiration, unlike sunscreen that needs to be reapplied.

This coverage doesn't come at the expense of movement. Lycra elastane integrated into the knit provides multidirectional stretch: the sleeve moves with your arm as you reach during a climbing section or carry a load, then returns to its shape. You can keep your arms covered all day without ever feeling restricted.

ROKA, the first layer of the Lagoped system

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air when the temperature drops. It constantly adjusts its protection, never wearing more than necessary.

ROKA forms the base of this system: it’s the inner layer, the one that stays in contact with the skin and whose only job is to move moisture outward. If it fails, everything worn over it becomes ineffective. Wear it on its own in mild weather, then under an insulating mid-layer, such as a fleece or lightweight puffer jacket, itself covered by a waterproof, windproof outer layer when the weather turns.

Fit & support

ROKA Active Fit Cut: close-fitting, without compression

ROKA is cut in an Active Fit, a close-fitting women's cut that follows the body without feeling tight. That's what you want from a base layer: the fabric stays in contact with the skin to wick away sweat, which is essential for moisture transfer to work properly.

Stretch that moves with you when you raise your arms

The 10% elastane provides four-way stretch: arms raised on a climbing move, shoulders rotating with trekking poles, the fabric snaps back into place without pulling or riding up at the lower back.

Designed for layering

Its lightweight 145 g/m² fabric fits under a fleece or technical jacket without bulk at the armholes. The long sleeves cover the wrists well, even under a glove.

Coupe Active Fit

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
