RAICHO LS: the technical stretch shirt designed for mountaineering

On a ridge climb in full sun, you rarely reach for a jacket: you want a layer that protects you from wind and UV rays without turning the ascent into a sauna. RAICHO LS does exactly that, with 145 g/m² recycled polyamide and elastane fabric that moves with you instead of restricting you.

Lightweight windproof fabric

The stretch fabric is windproof and treated with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish: it stands up to a passing shower and gusts at a mountain pass without adding weight to your shoulders. The shirt weighs just 270 g, so you can slip it into your pack without a second thought when packing up.

Details tested on the trail

Seven buttons let you gradually open the collar as the temperature rises. The long sleeves can be rolled up and secured with a dedicated fastening system, handy during a belay or on the approach hike. Two chest pockets with embroidered logos remain accessible when wearing a climbing harness, for your map, route guide, or sunglasses.

PERFORMANCES

ECONYL recycled stretch polyamide fabric, PFAS-free water-repellent, UPF 50+

145 g/m² windproof: the RAICHO LS shirt protects without overheating

At 145 grams per square meter, this is a lightweight fabric like you’d find in a summer shirt, but woven tightly enough to block the wind. In practice, on an exposed ridge or coming out of a corridor, you can feel the gusts pushing against you without the cold getting through, while still having the freedom to climb at a good pace without overheating—a classic windbreaker doesn’t allow for this kind of sustained effort. The PFAS-free water-repellent treatment adds to the protection: drops from a brief shower bead up and roll off instead of soaking into the fabric. And it weighs just 270 g, so you can keep it on all day. However, for prolonged rain, you’ll need to pull a proper waterproof jacket out of your pack.

Rolled-up sleeve fastening system

Recycled ECONYL polyamide and elastane: 81% recycled materials that stretch

The main yarn in RAICHO LS is regenerated ECONYL polyamide, made from recovered nylon waste: fishing nets, fabric scraps, and used carpets. It belongs to the same material family as conventional technical nylon, with the abrasion resistance that comes with it, but without extracting new oil to produce it. In total, the shirt is made from 81% recycled materials. The 14% elastane provides the stretch that makes all the difference in mountaineering: reaching high for a hold, pulling yourself up, hoisting a pack—the fabric moves with you without pulling at the armholes. Two chest pockets with embroidered logos complete the design, positioned so they remain accessible with a harness buckled.

RAICHO LS, the base layer in Lagoped’s three-layer system

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers as soon as the temperature drops. It adjusts its protection constantly, never wearing more than it needs.

RAICHO LS follows the same principle. It’s worn as a base layer, next to the skin, and is the only piece you need in good weather for mountaineering: its lightweight, stretchy fabric blocks the wind and dries quickly. When it gets cooler, it slips under a second insulating layer, fleece or a puffer jacket, then under a third waterproof layer if the weather turns. Add a layer, take one off, never pile on more than you need.

Fit & support

RAICHO LS Regular Fit Shirt: room to move without excess bulk

RAICHO LS has a Regular Fit—not tight or loose, with just enough room to move your arms freely on a climbing move or while handling a rope. The fabric contains 14% elastane: it stretches with you and returns to shape, preventing that pulling sensation across your back when wearing a pack.

Sleeves you can adjust on the go

The sleeve fastening system lets you roll up the sleeves and hold them in place when the sun is beating down, then lower them again during a break without untying anything. The seven buttons serve the same purpose: open the chest on the climb, then button up when the wind picks up on the ridge.

How to layer it

Worn next to the skin or over a thin technical base layer, it fits comfortably under a fleece or waterproof outer layer.

Coupe Regular

Coupe intermédiaire à travers le buste, avec assez d'aisance pour superposer une couche technique en dessous sans compression. Les manches gardent une bonne liberté de mouvement pour les activités outdoor du quotidien, de la randonnée aux sorties en montagne.
