July 16, 2026 - Mountain School Grenoble Guide Office: even higher in summer mountaineering
|
|
For climbers already autonomous at PD/AD level, this day supervised by the Grenoble Guide Office aims for a higher autonomy level: AD/D. The Lagoped Refuge supports this mountain school designed for those who want to move from "I can follow" to "I can lead."
Three people maximum per guide, a deliberately small format that allows the guide to push each participant towards real decision-making rather than simple technical execution.
As with every Lagoped mountain school, a 40-minute video conference the day before allows the guide to explain the choice of the climb: reading the topo, weather conditions, necessary techniques and equipment.
The focus is on moving belay, working on adaptation and speed of execution. Participants no longer just follow the guide’s instructions: they make safety decisions themselves, under supervision.
Placing protection points and anchors becomes a mastered skill, up to installing a rappel anchor independently. The day ends with preparing and leading a climb of AD/D level, with the participant taking the role of lead climber for all or part of the route.
A debrief at the end of the outing reviews the day and safety management.
