September 4, 2026 - Mountain School Guide Office Grenoble: Essentials of Summer Mountaineering
|
|
Back to school means it’s often the time to return to the mountains with a clearer goal in mind. This day, supervised by the Grenoble Guide Office, is for those already practicing F-level mountaineering who want to step up to PD/AD without waiting until next summer to get back at it.
Lagoped supports this mountain school, limited to four people per guide to ensure individual attention on each technique covered.
A 40-minute video conference, held the day before, allows the guide to present the chosen climb: route reading, weather conditions, necessary techniques and equipment, and estimated schedule.
Short-rope belaying is the core of the day, a technique that allows efficient progress without frequent stops on mixed terrain. Participants place their own protection points and build an anchor before practicing rappelling independently.
On the safety side, the day covers anticipating objective dangers and basic rescue techniques. It concludes with the preparation and execution of a PD/AD level climb, a real-life scenario that validates the day’s learning.
The final debrief reviews the day’s events and the safety decisions made along the way.
