Men's Technical Fleece SISKIN

CHF 180

Over or under a helmet, under a harness, during intense effort or resting at the belay: the SISKIN is designed for the most demanding outings. Its grid fabric, textured and brushed on the inside, ventilates without sacrificing warmth, while its reinforcements on the hips and shoulders withstand equipment friction. It is made from recycled plastic bottles and ECONYL fibers sourced from used fishing nets. A technical fleece designed to last, in the mountains and beyond.

Layer system

Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, adapts its plumage to the seasons. White in winter to escape predators, fluffier to protect against the cold, it keeps only what is necessary.

The SISKIN follows this principle: it serves as the intermediate layer, the one that insulates against the cold and regulates heat during exertion.

Reminder of the basics of the layering system:

  • The inner layer, breathable, directs sweat outward.
  • The intermediate layer, insulating, retains heat. This is the role of the SISKIN.
  • The outer layer, waterproof and windproof, protects against the elements.

By playing with these three layers, you gain comfort and versatility: you remove the intermediate layer during exertion, put it back on when resting. Layering is the foundation of any mountain outing.

Manufacture

We often say that we make our mountain clothing with you. Since the creation of Lagoped, we have been constantly exchanging with professionals and enthusiasts to improve each piece, always keeping sustainability in mind.

While recycled fleece has been available for a long time, recycled fleece made in Europe is rarer. The SISKIN combines two materials, each with its own journey:

  • The main fabric (185g/m²) is made from recycled polyester, then knitted and dyed in Portugal.
  • The panel (145g/m²) is made of recycled ECONYL polyamide, regenerated in Slovenia from fishing nets, fabric scraps, and used carpets, then knitted and dyed in Spain.
  • The final assembly of the fleece is done in Portugal, just steps away from where the main fabric is made.

Two exceptions to this European circuit: the elastane in the main fabric comes from Turkey, and the one in the panel from South Korea. These are two steps we are looking to relocate to Europe.

Circular economy

To respect the environment and your health, Lagoped compromises on nothing.

The main fabric of the SISKIN is made of 92% recycled polyester, obtained from plastic bottles. This material avoids the need for new petroleum extraction to produce virgin polyester.

The panel, present on the hips and shoulders, is made of ECONYL, a regenerated polyamide from nylon waste: used fishing nets, fabric scraps, and end-of-life carpets, collected and then reprocessed into fiber in Slovenia.

The elastanes that provide stretch to both materials are currently not recycled. This is a focus area with our suppliers to improve the composition of this fleece.

Composition

Main fabric (185 g/m²):

  • 92% Recycled polyester
  • 8% Elastane

Panel (145 g/m²):

  • 86% Recycled polyamide (ECONYL)
  • 14% Elastane

Care

The SISKIN can be machine washed at 30°C with a regular detergent, preferably mild or natural. Avoid fabric softener and bleach, as they damage the technical fibers. A gentle spin, normal rinse, and air drying are enough to keep it ready for the next outing.
