RIOUPOU: the stretch pants that keep up on hikes and climbs

Some outings take you across changing terrain every ten minutes: an uphill trail, a climbing move to get over a rocky outcrop, then a sunlit traverse. RIOUPOU was designed for days like these, when you don’t want to think about your pants.

4-way stretch that never restricts movement

The knit fabric, made from recycled ECONYL polyamide and Lycra elastane, stretches in all four directions, letting you take a long stride, raise your heel high, or lift your knee without the leg pulling. The 175 g/m² fabric stays lightweight and breathable as the temperature rises, and the pants weigh just 282 g.

Pockets designed for real outings

Two hand pockets and a front patch pocket, all with zippers, keep your phone, snack bar, and keys secure even when you bend down or climb. The belt loops accommodate a slim belt to fine-tune the fit under a climbing harness or backpack.

RIOUPOU blocks ultraviolet rays with a UPF50+ rating, the highest level on the textile protection scale. Important point: this protection comes from the density of the knit itself, not from an additive applied during finishing. So it doesn’t wear off over time with washing, unlike a chemical treatment that fades. On a full-sun traverse, an exposed approach to a climbing route, or a ridge walk above the tree line, your thighs and calves stay covered without you having to think about it.

175 g/m²: protection without overheating

This UV protection doesn’t come at the cost of extra warmth. The 175 g/m² knit stays lightweight and breathable, letting sweat escape during exertion, for a full-length pair of pants weighing 282 g.

4-way stretch and zippered pockets: the ergonomics of climbing pants

RIOUPOU fabric stretches in all four directions, both widthwise and lengthwise. In practice, a high climbing step, a split to step over a boulder, or a high heel raise meets no resistance from the fabric, and nothing rides up above the shoe. Lycra elastane ensures it holds its shape, outing after outing.

Three pockets that stay closed on the move

Both hand pockets and the front patch pocket are zippered. It’s a detail you appreciate as soon as you find yourself on all fours on a slab or sitting at a belay: nothing slips out. The belt loops also keep the pants in place, even under a tight harness.

RIOUPOU Active Fit Trousers: close-fitting without ever feeling tight

RIOUPOU has an Active Fit cut, a men’s close-fitting style that follows the leg without compressing it. The idea is simple: no loose fabric to catch on rocks or twist in gaiters, but enough freedom to lift your knee over a ledge or keep walking for hours.

An adjustable fit at the waist

The belt loops let you add a strap and adjust the fit depending on what you wear underneath and whether you’re carrying a backpack or wearing a harness. Lycra elastane does the rest: the trousers return to shape after every movement and don’t stretch out at the knees by the end of the day. They can be worn directly against the skin as a base layer on your lower body, with a thin pair of tights underneath when temperatures drop.
