Mountaineering
Some pieces come out at the start of the day; others stay on all day. DOHLE belongs to the second category: light enough to climb in, warm enough to keep you going during a snack break, when the wind picks up and sweat starts to chill you.
The knit is brushed against the skin to trap warm air, while the smooth outer face slides easily under a waterproof jacket or a harness without snagging. The knit’s stretch, with 16% elastane in the main fabric, moves with your arms during a climbing move or a mountaineering step without pulling at the shoulders.
The half-length front opening, with its 3 mm YKK zipper, lets you regulate your temperature without removing a layer: fully open on the ascent, zipped up to the chin on a windy ridge. Thumb loops at the cuffs keep the sleeves in place when pulling on gloves or a jacket, and prevent a cold spot at the wrist. A discreet heart embroidery marks the piece.

PERFORMANCES
When it comes to fleece, the weight tells you almost everything. At 220 g/m² for the main DOHLE knit and 225 g/m² for the yoke, it falls into the microfleece category: enough material to keep you warm when standing still, but light enough to keep the climb from turning into a sauna. In practice, it’s the layer you leave on instead of taking it off and putting it back on ten times a day. The brushed interior creates a surface that traps warm air against your skin, while the smooth outer face lets vapor escape and dries quickly after sustained effort. For really cold days spent standing still, you’ll want to wear a puffer jacket over it: DOHLE is made for movement.
The most effective temperature control is also the simplest. DOHLE's 3 mm YKK center zip opens the piece down to the sternum: vent your chest and neck as soon as the slope steepens, then zip up to the collar when you reach a windy ridge, without taking off a glove or setting down your pack. A zip this size stays slim and lightweight, with no extra bulk under a jacket. At the wrists, thumb loops keep the sleeves down when you put on a layer or gloves, and cover an area that gets cold quickly during winter climbing. At 305 g, it’s a piece you can pack without giving it a second thought.
Did you know? The ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers to trap warm air when temperatures drop. It constantly adjusts its insulation, never wearing more than it needs.
DOHLE follows the same principle: it is the mid layer, the second layer, retaining the body’s heat while letting moisture escape. It is worn over a technical base layer close to the body, and under a waterproof, windproof outer layer in bad weather. In dry conditions, it works on its own for hiking or climbing.
Fit & support
DOHLE has an Active Fit cut, a men’s fit that sits close to the body and follows the silhouette without feeling tight. That’s what you want from a midlayer: it should stay close to retain warmth, while leaving room for a technical base layer underneath and slipping under a waterproof jacket without adding bulk.
The smooth outer finish helps the jacket glide on, even with a backpack on. Thumb loops at the cuffs keep the sleeves from riding up when you put on another layer, while the knit’s stretch accommodates raised-arm movements when climbing or scrambling over rock without the hem coming untucked.
Coupe Active Fit
SIZE GUIDE
Make your equipment last
