Baptiste Deturche is a young wildlife film director who lives in the Alps where he lives close to nature.
After a bet between two nature enthusiasts, a mission begins. That of depicting some very special animals.
The alpine ptarmigan, the black grouse, the hazel grouse, the capercaillie, and the rock partridge belong to the group of birds called mountain galliforms.
These hens live in harsh environments but not so far from human activities, although tied to the mountain environment, they remain little or poorly known.
Let's go discover these incredible animals, relics of the Ice Age, champions of survival and camouflage to learn to observe and coexist with them.
Through this film, I want to take the viewer into the field. To make them discover what they do not know, to make them take the time to observe discreet wildlife, and to inform them about the fragility of these species and the spaces where they live.
This 53-minute film was shot in the French mountains, more precisely in the Alps and the Pyrenees. The story begins in a mountain chalet, where two nature enthusiasts take on the challenge of making this film in one year, to show the 5 species of mountain galliforms and to deliver a message of knowledge accessible to the widest audience.
Oriented as a "mission" of awareness, this film will show the mountain from another angle. Carried by a voice-over providing information and knowledge on the subjects, we travel from forests to summits and from the Alps to the Pyrenees.
Wanting to make the film in one year allows for creating a cycle in the story but also emphasizes the urgency of awareness. At a time when everything always goes too fast, there is no longer time to wait to raise awareness among as many people as possible about the challenges of our century.
Finally, alongside the main story and the galliforms, the film also depicts the environments in which these animals live and some other species that these birds encounter throughout the year.
