Manufacture

We often like to say that we make our mountain essentials with you. Since Lagoped was founded, we have been in constant dialogue with professionals and enthusiasts to improve every piece, to equip you as well as possible, always with durability in mind.

  • The yarn is made in Spain from recycled cotton and recycled polyester
  • The fabric is woven in France, in Charlieu, using the Jacquard technique, invented in France in the 19th century
  • The final assembly is also carried out in France

Weaving the Mont Blanc design rather than printing it reduces the tote bag’s carbon footprint.

Making it a fully European product, spun in Spain and woven and assembled in France.

Circular economy

To respect the environment and your health, Lagoped compromises on nothing.

CALABRE yarn is more sustainable than conventional or even organic cotton. Recycled cotton requires neither fertilizer nor water for irrigation, nor additional agricultural labor, and has a reduced carbon footprint. Farmland remains available for food production or can lie fallow.

The fibers are sorted by color before spinning, so no dyeing is required, resulting in significant water savings for every tote bag produced.

Local manufacturing also has a tangible impact: producing 500 tote bags brings the equivalent of 2.7 full-time employment days back to France and saves 1.5 tonnes of CO2 compared with importing an equivalent blank tote bag made in China or India (source: Spin-it software, developed by Altertex, based on ADEME Impact data).

Composition

Recycled cotton (r-COT) and recycled polyester (r-PET), post-industrial fibers.

Care

To protect the environment and extend the life of your CALABRE, machine-wash it on a short cycle at a maximum of 30°C using natural detergent. Air-dry it rather than using a dryer.
