SUPA: the 3-layer pants designed for ski touring and mountaineering

A skin-track climb under the sun, a transition onto the other side of the ridge, then the wind picks up again: ski touring pants need to do both—stand up to snow on the descent and let heat escape on the climb. SUPA was built to meet both demands.

Waterproof, breathable 3-layer construction

The polyester membrane has a 20,000 mm hydrostatic head, and all seams are sealed with heat-bonded tape to block common leak points, especially the knees and seat. The PFAS-free water-repellent treatment makes melting snow bead up before it soaks into the fabric.

Race-tested details

Two zippered side vents let you air out without taking off your gear, ankle zips make it easier to pull the pants on while wearing boots, and the Velcro-opening gaiters fasten over your boots. The edge guards stand up to blows from ski edges and crampons, while the zippered gusseted cargo pocket holds skins or your phone, secured by its mesh pocket and safety loop. Hydrophobic 5 mm YKK Aquaguard Coil zippers throughout.

PERFORMANCES

Sympatex membrane, 20,000 mm, RET < 8, recycled polyester

Trousers with a 20,000 mm water column membrane

We often accept that trousers are less well protected than a jacket, even though they take the brunt of the snow when you sit down or fall. So the SUPA gets the same 3-layer construction as our EVE mountaineering jacket, with a Sympatex membrane that withstands a 20,000 mm water column - the water pressure it can resist before letting a drop through. Its breathability measures up too: an RET below 8, allowing vapor to escape during a long skinning ascent. Every seam is sealed with heat-bonded tape, without exception. Two zippered side vents let you release heat on the way up without having to take anything off, and the 5 mm YKK Aquaguard zippers keep snow out of the pockets.

Reinforced polyamide fabric edge protectors

Gaiters and edge guards: the lower leg takes a beating

On ski pants, the lower leg takes all the abuse: snow getting in, and especially the ski edge rubbing against it with every turn. The SUPA has an edge-guard reinforcement right in this spot, made from dense 310 g/m² polyamide fabric, as well as inner gaiters with Velcro openings that fit snugly over your boots to keep snow out. Two zips at the bottom of the legs make it easier to pull the pants on over ski boots. At the waist, a wide inner Velcro tab adjusts the fit, and two concealed snap buttons fasten the pants beneath the belt loops. A zippered cargo pocket with a gusset includes a mesh pocket and a safety clip for your phone.

SUPA, the third layer in the Lagoped system for your lower body

Did you know? The rock ptarmigan, our totem animal, changes its plumage with the seasons: white in winter to blend into the snow, it fluffs up its feathers when temperatures drop. It adapts constantly, never wearing more than it needs.

SUPA follows the same principle for your lower body: it acts as an outer shell, the third layer, blocking wind and snow without trapping the heat generated on the climb. Wear it directly over breathable technical tights, or on its own against the skin on mild spring days. Its two zippered side vents let you adjust your temperature as you go, rather than removing or adding a layer every time you change slope.

Fit & support

Active Fit cut: backcountry ski pants that move with you

SUPA comes in an Active Fit cut in the men's version, striking a balance between being snug enough not to billow under a harness and roomy enough to fit a technical base layer underneath in very cold weather. It allows the range of motion needed for big kick turns and climbing steps on the approach, without excess fabric that can catch on crampons.

Adjustable waistband

The waist can be tightened from the inside with a wide Velcro strap and fastened with two concealed snap buttons. The exterior belt loops let you add a belt or wear a harness, depending on the outing, and the Velcro-opening gaiters adjust directly around the ski boot.

Coupe Active Fit

SIZE GUIDE

Make your equipment last
