The Call of the Ridge
Escape to Roc des Bœufs
Spring is slowly stretching its way across the Bauges Massif. On this late April day, the generous sun has chased away the last chills, offering an enchanting interlude. The air is mild, full of promises and the subtle scent of awakening earth. It is in this preserved setting, in the heart of the Regional Natural Park, that Vivien, a high mountain guide and emergency doctor, a member of the Lagoped Family, met Mathilde and Romain. Their objective: the Roc des Bœufs, a familiar and endearing silhouette dominating the landscape.
Hiking in the Bauges:
hiking attire for the first warm days
The day begins with an approach walk, a peaceful journey through the alpine pastures still marked by winter. Footsteps are light, punctuated by conversations and laughter. Vivien shares his passion, recounting the history of these mountains, the life of the wildlife that inhabits them. Here, the Black Grouse finds refuge for the winter; there, two chamois discreetly observe the intruders. The authenticity of the place, its wild beauty, soak into them.
Ridge climb in the Bauges Massif with Lagoped technical equipment
Then comes the ridge race. The terrain becomes more technical, concentration intensifies. Under Vivien's watchful eye, Mathilde and Romain embark on the narrow ridge. Their movements are precise, their balance subtle. Each step is a victory, each hold a strengthened bond with the rock. Their effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramas: Lake Annecy shimmering in the distance, the surrounding peaks draped in their spring mantle.
1774 meters: at the summit of Roc des Bœufs,
the Lagoped collection finds its place
At the summit, at 1774 meters, time seems to stand still. It's a moment for sharing, for contemplation. Faces are radiant, spirits peaceful. This is the Lagoped spirit: love of the mountains, respect for nature, the joy of sharing, and the pursuit of authenticity. An invitation to fully live every moment, to explore new horizons, and to reconnect with what truly matters.
